It's All Mountain Monkey Business To Me

Last weekend we were visiting our lot up in the mountains and meeting
with the excavator, but I just had to take some time to visit one of
my favorite shops in McCall, Idaho ~ Mountain Monkey Business.

They have wisely placed comfy chairs for husbands to sit while their
wives shop, but it was too cold and windy for anyone to be sitting out and
just enjoying the scenery.  Aren't these cute chairs?

I love the metal accents.  Just darling!

While it may have been too cold to relax outside ...

The wind was brisk enough for a fine sail on the lake.  This is the
beautiful Payette Lake.  It is an ancient glacier formed lake surrounded by
majestic mountains and thick Ponderosa Pine forests.  We even have
our own sea serpent named Sharlie.  Must be a relative of the one
in Loch Ness!   I am so excited to be getting a sailboat because I
I love to sail.   I have my heart set on a West Wight Potter.  It's a
sturdy little craft and the cutest sailboat ever.  Looks a bit like a toy
boat a child would sail in the bathtub.  If you have never seen one,
go to the West Wight Potter site.  And if you think they are too tiny,
I am happy to inform that some fellow sailed one solo from the
San Francisco Bay to Hawaii.  Not that I intend a solo sail across
the Pacific mind you, but I'll be happy to sail the Payette and our other
mountain lakes.  Bentley will be with me of course.  He's a good
little sailor.

Have a wonderful Sunday and be sure to visit the Tablescaper for

Bentley ~ Mama is shopping for a West Wight Potter now.  Get your
life vest ready!

Hugs,
Susan and Bentley

  1. Susan, you sound like you are having so much fun preparing and planning your cottage and your sailboat. Unfortunatley, I like my feet on terra firma, but go for it. Bentley make sure mommy puts a life jacket on you. And I think and little sailer hat would be in order. ;-)

  6. I'm a new subscriber and love your pictures of those awesome chairs at the lake. We've been thru ID several times but don't remember McCall or Payette Lake so will have to look it up on hubby's old trucker atlas. Wish we'd known about that store, we used to stop when we could to browse in Antique stores. We used to live in MT on Canyon Ferry Lake, wish we still lived there.

  7. Those are gorgeous chairs and the lake looks fabulous! Currently, Christopher Cross's Sailing is playing on your playlist. I love that song, I wouldn't mind doing a little sailing myself. My mom is a dental assistant and that song always seems to come on when I'm getting my teeth worked on, it's even better on nitrous. Anyway, I'm Sarah, I just started following your beautiful blog. I enjoyed the photos and the music, it's a very peaceful blog.

Well, you have a wonderful Sunday:)

  8. Susan~ Those fun, vibrant chairs are by Uwharrie Chair company, made in NC. Ours we sit in by the lake are by them but without that wonderful decorative metal scrolling!

I'm glad to know Bentley is a sturdy sailor, Chloe & Gracie have only putted on a pontoon :) Enjoy your sailboat!

  13. What adventures you are going to have in your new sailboat. My brother was quite the sailor...he and his wife sailed for almost a year in his sailboat...all the way from Texas to Aruba and ports in between.
