Cinnamon Stick Tea

It has been unseasonably warm here for the past several weeks, but that is
about to change.  I am really looking forward to wearing plaids and tweeds
and comfy sweaters.  When the temps drop this evening I will be
brewing a pot of Cinnamon Stick tea and putting on my flannel pj's and
curling up with a good book.

The sun is setting earlier and it's very dark when I get up in the
morning.  The cottage feels so cozy when I put the kettle on and
light all of the little lamps.

I have started to bake cookies each week and I love pulling out my
cookbooks and planning menus that include soups and stews.

Pumpkins are starting to show up at the markets and road side stands.
Mom and I will be taking walks to collect colorful leaves and looking for
pine cones too.

I am looking forward to fresh cider from Williamson Orchard.
I love serving it cold and serving it hot with mulled spices.
Yum!

I wonder if we should pull out the down filled comforter yet?
Bentley will vote yes because he loves to curl up on it.  It's
like sleeping on a cloud for him.

Hugs,
Susan and Bentley

  5. Cinnamon tea, that sounds lovely.....especially as I sit here in the rain that is supposed to turn to snow by tonight. Brrrrr Oh well, can't complain, we had a wonderful September.
I used to love flannel sheets....pj's....big sweaters, BUT LET ME TELL YA, once menopause set in, I have my own HEATER built in, and I'd be sweating buckets wearing them now.

  11. Susan, cinnamon tea reminds me of my first visit to San Francisco. I discovered it that October and have enjoyed drinking it since. That was in the 80s. Your tea vignette is charming. Happy Fall..........Sarah

  21. I just got a little tear in my eye when I saw that enamelware bowl in that last photo. It reminds me of the dishes on my grandparents' farm in Sabetha, KS (population probably at that time only around 200!). My grandmother (and step-grandmother after my grandmother passed away) took such pride in their home. Enamelware was a staple in their country kitchen. There were a few pieces that had worn a bit, and those were the ones I always wanted at my place setting. I'm not much of a country girl, so I'm not sure why those pieces made me so happy. Anyway...seeing that bowl brought back very fond memories of a time 1,000 years ago when I was a kid. :-) I love the pattern on that teapot, too! Stay warm!!!

  27. I'm thinking exactly like you are thinking. Our temps have cooled and it's going to be so cool this weekend I am making my first batch of chili of the season. I love the cool temperatures, the changing leaves, and lack of humidity. Haven't made cookies yet, but that's a good idea. Dianne
