If Everything Is Great Why Do I Feel Depressed?

Things have been going great for us.  So why should I be
feeling depressed?  We are comfortably settling into our new
home.

A rental property that we own back in Idaho is currently under
contract and that makes me happy.

We went to a wonderful block party in our new neighborhood
this past Sunday and met many of our new neighbors.  Everyone
was so friendly and did their best to welcome us.

So why am I a bit depressed?

So much has happened so fast in our lives recently.  Now that the dust is
settling I am wondering now what will I do?  I have been so involved
in unpacking and arranging and such that I had forgotten that I  will
need something to pour my heart and soul into each day.  As much as I
love to decorate, I still need more.  We all need a purpose in life to keep
us grounded.  And that is exactly what I need right now.  I hope you
will join me on this new journey.  Thankfully, Bentley will be by my side.

Big Texas Hugs,
Susan and Bentley

  2. The pros say the highest stresses in life: marriage, divorce, a birth, a death, a new job, lost job or moving......you just moved and made huge changes - it is normal to be depressed, maybe even SCARED.

I highly suggest finding a church you feel warmly welcomed in, and a local civic women's club.

    Sending some prayers for you.

Gosh is it ever nice to be back in blogland, it's been forever since I have been able to do so.

    Hugs.

  4. You have been SO busy the last several months and now that it's all done, I'm sure you have a feeling of "what do I do now"? Moving so far away has to be a drastic change in lifestyle, friends, etc. Just be thankful you have your Mom there with you. Enjoy every day you have with her. And I'm sure Bentley will be a great comfort

Sending prayers for peace and contentment your way.

  5. (((((HUGS))))) You have to be rebounding from all the change and maybe a little homesick for what you left behind. Good things will happen in time.

  6. Susan ~ after all the hustle and bustle of packing, moving, unpacking ~ whew ~ no wonder you are wondering what will I do now? Sit and relax and search your soul, say a prayer, I'm sure the Lord has an answer. I am positive that there is something wonderful waiting for you. Just listen to that still soft voice inside ~
I'll be thinking about you and sending up prayers for you ~

  7. Susan- You have had a lot of big changes in your life in short order. I think you are probably having even a bit of mourning for what you left behind...it is all just kind of catching up to you. Here's hoping you get your mojo back...and we will all be here to cheer you on as you walk down this new path. xo Diana

  10. With the hustle and bustle of the stress of planning, carrying out, unpacking and settling in during the process of a move, it goes without saying that you will get to the running on empty part. I know when I last moved I started to slow down and then started to yearn for my old place and the lifestyle and friends I left behind. It lasted two weeks, a dark time, but then the brightness started again and I set out to find places, new hobbies and places off the beaten track with my little dog. You'll soon get into the swing of things once more and embark on the next stage of your life journey. Remember, we are all here to accompany you along the way xx

  12. Oh Susan, after such a huge move and all the work you had to do before and now the waters are calm, it's normal that you might say: 'now what!? ' I find that blogging and running into all my lovely and sweet friends take my mind away from whatever makes me sad. You will be doing the decorating even more and that is always the best...it is for me, lol! I feel depressed and I go to the Antique store or the home stores to see what will make me smile....cloths are the least, again, maybe shoes, lol! Hugs my friend.

  13. Lovely photos ! Moving to a entire new world can have it's affects . When your busy and on the go there is no time to think about things but now that you have slowed down and your in a new environment you feel like you are maybe stuck in limbo not knowing the area and your surroundings can make you feel like this . Maybe take a trip around your new area go on an adventure . I don't know what the weather is like there but that has a lot to do with how we feel ! Hey maybe being snap happy in the new area that may help . You'll find your giddy up !

  14. A move is one of the most stressful things you can go through - I learned that when we moved 4 years ago, leaving behind beloved neighbors, a house I had completely renovated (and where my parents had lived with us before they died). I went into a deep depression and it took a long time (and some meds :) to get through it. I will pray for you, dear friend, especially that you find that passionate something you can pour your heart into. Meanwhile,

    Love you, Mary @ Ms.Redo

  15. Sister, First, I love you! Second, you are feeling quite natural. Big changes came your way. We ALL get depressed, at times. A neighbor of mine gave me some very sound advice when I was a young married, long ago. I was soooooo homesick, just had a baby and missing my parent's and that warm security they offered. She told me that she would rather have feelings of love, sadness and anything in-between, than to feel nothing at all. I have never forgotten that.
    xoxo,
    Me
Bentley, go give your Momma some doggie kisses!

  16. Susan, you have gone thru so much in the past months that you have been in high gear. Now you are settling down and not going 100 miles an hour, so relax, join a club or do some charity work. Enjoy your mom and do lots of fun things. Hugs to Bentley.

  17. This is soooooooo normal!!! Just like the "baby blues" and PTD..........you were in high gear for so long and now its time to wind down and the change is unsettling, I know. Rest in the Lord and soon the fog will lift and new paths will open up. Hugs to you.....

  19. So normal to feel a bit let down now...you did so much in such a short amount of time. Maybe you need to set a new routine, maybe on wednesday once a week lunch and the library. Something to give structure to the week, I know it is hot in texas but they must have a dog park somewhere there, maybe once a week you could go there meet new people ( bring long Bentley, you don't want to look wierd) you will be fine...Holidays approaching. Mary
