Antique Week Fall 2014 ~ Prims

I have a soft spot for prims.  I liked them years ago and I am starting
to swing back to them.  There is something so simple and soothing
about their appeal.  Perhaps it's an escape from our stressful world.
Here are some pieces I thought you might enjoy seeing.

Even if you did not want to commit to a whole house, or an entire room
to prims, a few of these touches bring charm and comfort to a space.

I have more pics of the show and I will share them with
y'all tomorrow.   Have a happy Monday!

Big Texas Hugs,
Susan and Bentley

  1. I have never decorated with prims but have always appreciated the style. As you said it is a reminder of simpler times.

    1. Wish I could have been there for a whole week. I live two hours away so I was just up for the day. Maybe this spring I will be able to spend more time there. It's so enormous that I don't even think a week would do it!

  4. My tastes run the gambit but I always come back to primitives. Even when I try to move away from them they pull me back I guess I am just a old country girl at heart. That blue cupboard makes my heart sing.

  5. I know what you mean...I had every type of primitive there was and really loved them but I had decorated that way since 1983 and I just got tired of it. They do make a room cozy though, how nice to be able to look at them at a fair!

    1. It's great that the fair has lots of variety and not all one look.

  10. Always loved prims and never get tired of them. My home is so small, I can only have them in the kitchen, they are still my favorites.

  11. It's a look that really appeals to me now and I think it is because it reminds me of times when things seemed so much simpler.

  12. You have Round Top here in New England we have Brimfield. My daughters and I go every year...so much to look at it is always fun bringing things back to truck and heading off again to do the other side of the street. Last year we walked for over six hours. I mix prime in my home, in the dining room I have silver and pewter mixed on top of an old pie safe. I like the look.

  13. Hi Susan, My friends and I were in Round Top too this year. It was HOT, but we had a blast. Even after an entire week, we weren't tired of it. Got some great ideas to try.

  14. I love them, too. Funny, now they are called "farmhouse style" or "prairie style". Nevertheless, they lend themselves to a time gone by of simple style, functionality and homestead goodness.

  15. Love a touch of prims in the house. They are so simple. Love the wooden box with the apples in it. I have been looking for one of those forever. Can't find it in my neck of the woods. ;-(. Another day of drooling over these pieces.

  17. Thanks for the pics! I have always wanted to go to Round Top, but traveling from southern Indiana isn't just a short jaunt. Maybe someday! So I appreciate the sneak peek.
