Easter Decorating 2018 and a Chat

I didn't buy many new Easter decorations this year.  We are not having
any guests for dinner because we don't have any family here.  We will
be staying at home.  One year we went to our Club for Easter brunch,
but that turned out to be depressing.  Everyone was there with their
families, and David and I were sitting at a table alone.  We felt so out
of place and couldn't wait to get back home.  So this year, we will
stay home.  I don't know what I will make for dinner.  Have not thought
that far ahead.  I think the Masters Golf Tournament is this
weekend, so I will definitely be making pimento cheese sandwiches.
If the weather is nice, I will probably work out in the yard.

Anyway, I hope that y'all enjoy some of the decorations I put
together this year.

Big Texas Hugs,
Susan and Bentley

  1. Love the photos in this post, Susan. I wish we were closer; I'd love to have you for Easter dinner with us. Guess Maine and Texas are a little far apart for a dinner invitation! Maybe do something different for dinner at home like tacos, instead of the traditional ham? It might be a nice quiet day for you after all.

  2. Really cute decorations! I have been alone on many holidays in the past but now have family around me and I'm so blessed. Church first then I'll have dinner here for Mom, Sara and family. Easter goodies for the Grands of course. I hope you enjoy your day even if it's just the two of you. HUGS!!!

  3. I don't think you needed to buy any new -- what you have is simply adorable!

I kind of like Easter dinner "home alone." It's laid back, you don't have to please everyone at the table with their traditional faves and you can eat when (or if!) you feel like it! There's much to be said either way, but it could be a win-win!

  4. Awwww...I’m sorry that experience was so depressing for you! Ramon and I actually enjoy it. We look at all the parents being unable to eat a meal in peace, not being able to have a cocktail because of the kids, wiping spittle off their Easter duds...and we don’t miss the mayhem at all! It’s nice to be able to sit back and watch the young people do what WE did so many years ago. One year, however, we did put my son on Skype and we all ate together. That was different! Taught me how to use Skype!!! I understand how you must feel, though. I sometimes feel that way at Thanksgiving with all the in-laws and “outlaws” and “steps”...it’s nervewracking and downright confusing for me!!! I come from a solid 2-parent household that knew nothing of that. I watch my son scheduling time for his ex to be with their daughter (he has custody), and it just baffles me. At any rate, I hope your Easter is a good one. Take care, and enjoy the weekend!

  5. I love all of your decorations and am glad that you did them for yourself -even if you don't have family there to see them in person. We are kind of like your 'adopted' family that sees, loves and appreciates what you do.

Enjoy your day at home! xo Diana

  6. Susan, your decorations are adorable. Love the soft colors and sweet bunnies. I've enjoyed having some of my bunnies out, but I didn't put much out this year. We are dining at friends', so I didn't even set a table.
It has been beautiful here. I've been getting in a little weeding every day, and this afternoon repotted things on the front porch. The cyclamen had run their course. Happy Easter!
