Oh What a Beautiful Morning!

We awoke this Sunday to a beautiful snowy morning. Although yesterday's temperature was quite mild for January, it dropped down and snowed through the night. Here is a view from out of my cottage window. In the Rocky Mountain West we love our snow. It is a blessing for both the skiers and the farmers. The snow pack we receive in the mountains during the winter keeps all the reservoirs filled. It never seems to hang around for long here in the valley though and I am afraid that it will all be melted soon. The mountains just above us will stay covered for a longer time and it's a beautiful sight to see.

Have a warm and cozy Sunday with your loved ones!

Love,

More Blue and White China

As you can see, I am crazy about blue and white china. I posted this especially for Brenda over at Cozy Little House (she loves blue & white china too) as a way of thanking her for welcoming me to Blog Land. Brenda is such a great person and is a fellow Texan. I am a naturalized Texan since my husband was born and raised in Houston. Although we now live in Idaho, I am originally from the north shore suburbs of Chicago. That is why you will see the Chicago plate on my hutch. Go Cubs!! I know, they have not won a series since 1900 or something like that, but I can dream can't I? Before I go on and on chatting, I want to thank you all for visiting my new blog. I have enjoyed so many of yours and Blog Land is a wonderful place to be!!

Visit us again, you are always welcome (even if you are not a Cub's fan). Love from Susan and Bentley xxoo

Shopping Trip

That was fun. Let's do it again soon! If you are ever in Boise, Idaho, stop by and visit the Antique World Mall. I have found some lovely things for my cottage there.

Young at Heart

I love to read, but I often add some children's literature into my reading because it keeps me grounded. If you stay on my blog long enough, you will hear Frank Sinatra sing "Young at Heart". I have only been posting this blog for about a week, but I have had some lovely comments and it just fills my heart with joy! Thank you so much!!! You all have made me feel young at heart.

Do You Love Blue and White China?

All right, I will admit that I have a problem. I love blue and white china. My first childhood tea set was blue willow. I have the adult size version as well. I also have blue and white Mason's I purchased on a trip to London years ago. Love the calico too. My sweet husband always teases me that we could set a table for the entire neighborhood and still have dishes left over. Is there such a thing as chinaholics? You might also notice "Mrs Rabbit and Bunnies" as well as "Poorly Peter Rabbit". I also love Beatrix Potter, but that's another blog!

Old Friends

Here is a pic of me with my first best friend. That's Barbie on the left, me on the right. Okay, don't mention the hair, my mother was charmed by how much I favored the Swedish side of the family. Although Barbie was two years older, we shared the same birthday, so we always had a joint party. It's wonderful to have old friends and the older one gets the more treasured they become. Tonight I had a long chat with my dear childhood friend Kathy. Although we live about 2 thousand miles apart, our friendship is still a blessing. If you have an old friend you have not talked to in a while, pick up the phone and make that call!

What's For Dinner???

Today was my day off. It was cold and gray and raining, so Bentley and I spent the day viewing lots of great cottage blogs and working on my own new one. Since I am new to blogland, it's been a real learning process for me. Suddenly the day has slipped away and I have not yet made dinner!! So I am off to the kitchen. I better get creative in a hurry. It's a good thing I have such an understanding husband. Have a great evening!

Doll Houses

I would love to own a doll house someday. Until I do, I have created some miniature vignettes in several places.

Canine Collections Part 1

Bentley is a very important member of our family. I have always loved dogs. While looking through old family photo albums it is apparent that our dogs have always been treasured. My love of dogs is so great that it plays an important role in my decorating scheme.

My very first dog was a scottie named Bonnie Heather MacGregor, and consequently I have a soft spot in my heart for all scotties. Be they scotties or yorkies or any kind of dog, I love them all.

Welcome To My Cottage

Welcome to Ash Tree Cottage where I believe that all things are possible. The impossible may take a wee bit longer. When I walk through the door of my cottage, it is not only a refuge from the worries of the world, it is also a nurturing haven created just to my liking. I share this cottage with a wonderful, understanding husband, and a darling little dog. I hope that you will stop by often.
