Hours to Cook ~ 10 Minutes to Eat!

The heart of the home ~ the command center.  The place where I pan saute,
bake, broil and have worked through all of the recipes in Julia Child's
Mastering the Art of French Cooking, Volumes 1 and 2.

But ...

You know what?  No matter how many hours I spend in front of this stove
attempting to create a culinary masterpiece ...

IT ONLY TAKES 10 MINUTES TO EAT!!!

And it all happens again tomorrow for Sunday dinner!

I am taking a break from the kitchen to visit

Oh well Bentley ~ c'est la vie!!

Hugs,
Susan and Bentley

  1. What a fabulous kitchen you have, and the range is gorgeous! I'm sure you enjoy every bit of cooking you do and I'm sure your guest know how luck they are.

  4. I think that's one of the reasons I don't like to cook. Too much time and then it's gone! Although that doesn't hold true for baking -

  5. Oh do I know this! I think of this with every holiday too. Hours preparing & cooking and it's eaten up within minutes!

  6. My sister in law and I have been saying this for so long. On holidays we slave over the stove and then the family desends like wolves eat in minutes. So I guess it was good that is what we say.

  7. Love your kitchen Susan. I love to cook too. I love old cook books and I try and find one recipe to try a week and you are so right. Hours spent in the kitchen and just minutes to eat. But they are wonderful minutes.
    Have a great day ;-)

  10. Love your stove, Susan. I can see that David is very spoiled with all those wonderful dishes. I love to cook, but don't do much of it anymore, since the kids are gone.
Bentley, ask Momma for some leftovers!

  11. My dear mom used to say that too! And it is true!
I prepare for hours, and whoosh, gone, and now the clean up! No wonder people eat out!

Love your oven. I have the Thermador with double ovens. We have had lots of trouble with it, more than I ever did with the cheaper kind. :(

  15. I feel this way on Thanksgiving and Easter when I make a feast. It's gone too fast!! Then I have the dishes!

Have you really gone through both volumes by Julia Child?

    XO,

  16. You are so right. It is a bit frustrating. Then try cooking for children. Yikes!

I'm so impressed that you've made your way through both volumes. Any favorites?
