Everything is Hunky Duny? What???

I am watching one of my all time favorite Christmas movies
Christmas in Connecticut
In this movie there is the absolutely adorable Uncle Felix
I love his saying "everything is hunky dunky" and have adopted it.
But you know what?  There is only one K in Scrabble.  Looks like
I will have to buy another K to make this complete.

Here is Uncle Felix played by the lovable
S K "Cuddles" Szakall.
Wouldn't you love to have an Uncle Felix?  I sure would!!

I love movies that are happy.  Every time I watch a happy old movie I am
full of joy the whole day!

Of course it's hard not to be happy during the weeks leading up to
Christmas.  It's a time filled with cookies and family and friends and
precious memories

Oh and the arrival of Christmas cards.  I save my favorite ones
year after year.  I must create a scrapbook for them.

Look at this wonderful room!  I want my hubby to build me a house like
this.  Perfect!

With a sweet kitchen like this with the dutch door (can't see it in this pic, but
trust me it's there, complete with a cow who comes to visit).  I would be
happily flipping flap jacks.  There's Uncle Felix again.  What a cutie!!

Well, time to sign off.  It's back to decorating, shopping, crafting,
baking and all the happy tasks of the Christmas season!

Joining ~

Bentley our squirrels are starting to get fat from eating so
much pumpkin and squash.  We may have to put them on a diet!

Hugs,
Susan and Bentley

  1. I love the old black and white movies. I prefer them to the movies made today. Guess I'm just old-fashioned! Love your red and white. Happy Happy!

  3. Everyone loves this movie because of the gorgeous home. I started to watch it last year and fell asleep halfway through it! It wasn't boring at all, it was just that it was my third holiday movie in a row. So I have to catch it this year!

Love your pretty vignettes. I hope you find your letter! :)

    1. No worries! I fall asleep during movies all of the time. Remember Sunday's Family Classic Movies with Frazier Thomas on WGN? I used to watch the Shirley Temple movies all of the time and begged my mom to cut my waste length hair into ringlets and take me to Hollywood so that I could be the next Shirley Temple. Apparently Cindy Brady had the same idea!

  4. Susan - Aren't those old movies special? My husband loves "Christmas Story" and watches it over and over again and laughs so hard every time he watches it. I love a movie like that that makes him really happy.

    Your vignettes are so pretty.

    1. I am with your hubby! I love A Christmas Story for so many reasons. One of which is that my grandparents lived in Lyndhurst, Ohio (suburb of Cleveland) and we would drive from Chicago to Cleveland to visit them at Christmas. Grandma and Grandpa took my cousins and me to visit Santa at Higbees each year (just like in the movie), BUT Santa never kicked me down any slide. Oh and I still want a Little Orphan Annie decoder ring!
      Love,
      Susan

PS: I NEVER EVER miss 24 hours of a Christmas Story on Christmas Eve!

  5. I knew someone would have a K......of course Brenda. She's so sweet.
    Love the old old movies.
I rolled our big old pumpkin down the yard to the trees. But it kept on rolling right into the middle of the yard. Hubby wanted to know where it came from. I said I wanted the deer to eat it. I've heard that corn will kill them so pumpkin will be alot easier on their tummies.

    1. What a sweet soul you are Debby! I am an animal lover and will happily roll pumpkins out in your yard for the deer. Although, I will say that the animal rights people may be knocking on my door any time now for single handedly contributing to the obesity of squirrels. My squirrels are getting fat! Oh and their under bellies are turning orange from diving head first into pumpkins for their seeds.

  12. Good Afternoon Susan, I have finally managed to pop over and visit you. I am sorry it has taken so long, but for some obscure reason I have been having problems loading your blog....anyway, finally I have been successful and I am so glad I have as it is lovely to meet you and Bentley. I love old 1940's films. Give me a cup of coffee, a slice of cake(very important) and nice big comfy chair, with maybe a throw to wrap around me, incase I am cold and I will have a wonderful afternoon.... perfect. I have enjoyed your blog so much, I have become a follower and am looking forward to getting to know you more. Have a lovely day, Best Wishes from England, Daphne
