Let's Talk About Front Entries and Landscaping

I am thinking about adding a glass front door and glass sidelight to the entry of our
house in Victoria, Texas.  Currently there is a solid door which is nice, but I want to bring
more light into the foyer.  So ... I went to one of my favorite neighborhoods here in
Boise, Idaho and found a couple of examples of just how much a lovely entry can
improve the look of a house.

By the way ~ don't you love the landscaping?

I estimate the age of this house to be about the same as the one in Victoria which
was built in 1948.  It has the same low slung mid century traditional style.  To me these
doors just seem to say ~ "welcome, come on and take a look inside."

Here is the house next door.  Also a mid century charmer.  Once again, I love
the landscaping.  Hostas and Japanese maples add color and interest.

I do love trees!

Pretty doors filled with beveled glass.  Love it!

I am getting so excited.  One more week before we close on our new home
in Victoria!  It will be hard to sleep at night!!!

  1. I agree, Susan. A glass door adds sparkle to one's entrance and lets in more light. Beautiful examples. Excited for you, my friend!

  2. We had a stained glass panel in our front door and I removed it and put in one with clear glass because it was very dark and our children we teenagers when we moved in and the door was never shut gently, now would be a good time to put it back in maybe.

  5. Isn't it so exciting thinking about the new things with the new house? We are starting and even though it is hard to leave a home we lived in for 18 years it is fun to start fresh. These are beautiful and do let in a lot of light I am sure and great curb appeal!
