Tweaking in My Studio

Over the weekend I decided to paint this chair.  It is something I have wanted
to do since I set up my studio in our new house.  It rained all weekend and
so I got out the paint, brush and popped in season one of the Mary Tyler Moore
show into my Mac and painted away.  Painting furniture and watching and
listening to funny old TV sitcoms is the most wonderful kind of therapy.
I highly recommend it!

This is the way the chair looked before.  I aways loved the lines of it and while
it was previously used in a study, the color was too dark for my shabby cottage
style studio.  Its a comfy place to read a book or to browse through magazines.
However ...

It is also the place where Bentley likes to curl up and take a nap while I am
on my computer, or sewing or painting.  In fact, I had a hard time taking the
picture of the chair without him in it.  He is giving me the "I'm a bit
annoyed with you right now look".  He is very territorial and this is
"his" chair after all ;-)

Okay Bentley ~ it's safe to resume your morning nap now.

Big Texas Hugs,
Susan and Bentley

  2. Aw! It's so nice seeing Bentley's sweet little face. He's so adorable! It does my heart good to see him.
I love how you made over your chair. The fabric really pops against the white! I love the needlepoint pillow, too. It is the perfect spot for Bentley to be with you while you work/play. Bonnie used to sit on an ottoman while I painted in the studio. I miss her so much!

    Your studio is so nice!

  6. The white is perfect for it. And yes, the fabric is a standout now. I can just envision you trying to paint the chair with Bentley on it! Glad to hear you're doing things for yourself.

  12. You did a beautiful job on the chair! What a good feeling to have it DONE! The white fits the feminine lines so well, and that cushion has got to be nice and plump or Bentley would be roosting elsewhere!
Hugs right back at ya from Michigan!

  15. Susan,
What an amazing transformation a coat of paint makes!!!
I adore the fabric, as well!!!
Bentley, like our late beloved Maurice, deserves a nice spot in your Studio!
Maurice took quite seriously her title of "Product Inspector"!
I once had a sign near my chair that read, "If you want the best seat in the house, move the cat."
Thank you for sharing the chair. . .are photos of the rest of your Studio forthcoming, dear one?
    Fondly,
    Pat
