Do You Have Real Friends?

Do you have any friends?  Everyone knows others on a
superficial basis, but how many of those people are really your
friends?

I have lived long enough to know that there are always people who will be
friendly when they can get something they need from you.  After they get
what they want they are gone.

Or those who are nice to your face, but then talk behind your back.

Or those who are always aloof no matter how nice you try to be.

Do you try too hard to get that person's attention or do you just move on?
It's never fun to be left out, but at what cost?

What I know for sure is this ~ we are all entitled to some dignity.
Don't chase after those who don't want you around.
Have a little pride and I think that someone who wants to be
a real and true friend will notice you and extend a hand of friendship.

Right Bentley???

Susan and Bentley

  1. That's good advice, they say you can always count on your right hand your true friends but you should always be open to new friends but don't forget your old ones.

  2. I think as we get older, Susan we are able to choose our friends more wisely. I know that I no longer feel the need to fit in the way the way I did when I was younger. True friends are definitely the ones who accept you for who you are and are with you through the hard times. xoxo Laura

  3. Susan, friends are such a great thing, but can cause pain. I've learned that even the best of friends might be in your life for just a 'season' and then it's time to move on. Right now I'm in the changing time with some good friends and it's sad but it's life.

  4. I've found over many years that there are friends who come into my life for a season and then the friendship wanes for no particular reason and we lose touch. During those seasons it seems that they have a need for me in their life or I have a need for them. I 've always thanked God for their presence and expect there will be more as the need arises.

  5. I am very blessed to have quite a few really "good and true" friends. Friends who I can go months without seeing, but then when we are together, it's like we've never been apart. Friends who if I needed something, would be there at the drop of a hat. I don't see young people today having true friends. I think that is so sad. I am truly blessed.

  6. We found out who our friends were early this year with the water crisis, even how family was. It is sad. I think getting older you appreiciate true friends more.

  7. A "true" friend is such a treasure! I am so thankful to have those that I am able to spend time with often and a few that live too far away to see much but know they would be here for me in an instant. (and I for them!)
    Great post!
    Blessings,

  8. I am very, very fortunate to have 5 lifelong TRUE friends. Even though a couple of them are now far-flung to other areas of the country, they remain true blue in every way. I have a billion acquaintances, and that's nice, but it's the true friends who I know I can count on in times of good and bad to help see me through. That's a great feeling!

I hope you and Bentley are enjoying your weekend!

  11. Very well said! I take calling someone a friend seriously. Probably why I'm such an animal lover. No pretending with animals. When they love you, it's for real.
