A Downton Abbey Kind of Morning

Some cold winds blew into our area last night.  When I took
Bentley for his nightly walk, my cheeks were cold and rosy and
Bentley was all invigorated when we returned.  I knew then
that an early morning fire would be just the thing on Sunday.

So here we are.  Fire ablaze and classical music in the
background.  It's all so cozy and relaxing.  Just the right
precursor to the next episode of Downton Abbey tonight.

My Mini Cooper and Union Jack cup is full of some
nice hot coffee.  My own wee bit of England here deep in
the heart of Texas.

Bentley is still curled up on the sofa sound asleep with his
head on the pillow and a fleece blanket tucking him in
cozy comfort.  He had a very busy day yesterday.  I am
here by the fire enjoying the peacefulness of a lovely
morning and looking forward to episode 2 of the final
season of my favorite show.  Wishing y'all a lovely day!

Big Texas Hugs,
Susan and Bentley

  2. Looks like the perfect place to spend a cold, wintery day. We had snow yesterday but the roads are all clear. I can handle that!

    1. I envy your snow. Up on my property in New Meadows, Idaho there is seven feet of snow! My neighborhood newsletter from there sent me the pics and it is so gorgeous.

  5. I recently started watching Downton from the beginning - I'm on Season 3 right now and working my way through! I am completely and totally addicted to that show. Your morning sounds lovely - a nice fire and some classical music, and a warm cozy sleeping puppy? What's better than that?

    1. I am going to cry my eyes out when the season ends. I love English period drama. I have been watching them for years. My parents raised me on PBS programming. Their favorite was Upstairs Downstairs. When Mom and Daddy and I went to England together we spent a whole Sunday watching London Weekend Television while we were staying at an old cottage in Oxford. So as I said, I will cry my eyes out and then start pulling out all the PBS dvds to help me get through the withdrawal stage ;-)

  8. You have created a cozy spot for tea or coffee. I'm sure Bentley loves sitting by the fire. Do you recall where you purchased the cup?

    1. Yes indeed ~ the cup and saucer were purchased at a shop in Houston called "The British Isles". I have been shopping there since the 1980's. It is in Rice Village. I also purchased my Sherlock Holmes walking stick there recently. They sponsor Downton Abbey on the Houston PBS channel. I believe they have an online shop too.

  13. Its bitter cold here too...and never thought of having a fire in the morning? We don't have glass doors so the fire has to be out before we go to bed, and not having doors to close can make it pretty cold at the Charmer. A beautiful setting for a spot of tea!

  14. I love a fire in the evening and we don't even have the cold that other parts of the country are having. Your fireplace is just beautiful and fire on a cold morning sounds wonderful.
I bought season 6 of Downton Abbey and even though I can see it anytime now..I still watch it on TV.
Today I even bought Downton Abbey lace curtains for the livingroom that I have been wanting for a long time. I'm glad I did it..
Your morning sounds wonderful..and Bently even sounds all cozy! Happy New Year to you both. :)
