Creating a Cozy Christmas Cottage

Well, I was hoping to be able to decorate around the outside of the
She Shed today, but it's raining.  I think it is supposed to rain for a
couple of days and then clear up.  I certainly do hope that will be the
case.  So I am back inside finding little spots in the house to add
some cozy Christmas cottage charm.

This is a favorite spot in the cottage, especially on a gray and
rainy day.  Bentley loves to curl up in one of the chairs with me.
Sometimes he takes more than his share of the chair, but that's
just fine.  I am happy to indulge him.

I usually like to start my day with a mug of hot water and a slice or two
of lemon.  After that, I have a mug filled with coffee, cream, and
some kind of sweeter that isn't sugar.  Coffee in a Santa mug is
especially cozy at this time of year.

I'll be home for the rest of the day.  I am having my groceries delivered
later today.  I am loving this service.  First I started using curbside
delivery, and now I have switched to home delivery.  They pull up in
my driveway, and unload all the groceries in my back hall.  All I have
left to do is to put them away.  I feel so spoiled, but actually it is helpful
especially when I have not been feeling up to leaving the house.

I hope you have a wonderful and cozy day too!

Big Texas Hugs,
Susan and Bentley

  1. I have been tempted to try out the home grocery delivery service. How convenient it surely sounds! Your cozy little Christmas corner looks so warm and inviting. Are you in the path for the "big" snow storm, Diego that is heading eastward? We may get up to 12 inches! I have heard about the hot water and lemon thing...does it work for you?

  2. No, I am way too far south for Diego! I am pretty close to the Gulf of Mexico. Looking at the map, it seems that Dallas might get some of Diego's wrath. They are about 4 hours drive from here. I love hot water and lemon. It's an comforting way to ease into the day, and it. helps me to get in my required daily amount of water too. Are you. happy about the 12 inches? I would be thrilled!

  4. Between our 10" snowfall, now the quagmire of rain and mud....we aren't getting much outdoor decorating done either. I'm with you on the curling up with a huge Mug of coffee. Smiles and we live three blocks from the most fabulous grocery store, but if they delivered, that would be very nice...LOL.

  5. I always love visiting your home! Have to get in the habit of having hot water with lemon first thing in the morning. Sounds very refreshing actually. Hugs for sweet Bentley! xoxo

    1. HEB is delivering for free through the 14th. Even after they start charging, I will keep using it. I think it's worth the charge.

  7. I also love your cozy pictures. Have been following your blog for a couple of months and love it. I'm in Houston so probably get the same weather you do. Be blessed.

    1. Thanks for following me! Just because we live in the South doesn't mean we don't get cold weather. Glad I brought all my down filled jackets from Idaho. I have been using them!

  8. Hi Susan! I've heard of a few folks who use the home delivery from the grocery store. I haven't yet. I love everything you do! It poured down here last night! Glad we didn't flood.
    Be a sweetie,

    1. It rained all day Friday and all Friday night too. Heavy, heavy rain too. My back yard has a moat around it now. It will take several days for the water to be absorbed. I'm glad we didn't flood too, at least not yet anyway. We usually get the excess water from San Antone and Austin. The mighty Guadalupe is full!
