How Do You Know When You Have Too Many Dishes?

When it's time to start thinking about packing them all up to move
to Texas!  Yikes!!!

Bentley ~ your mama is a confessed dishaholic!

  1. Susan, I wish I was close by to give you some help. Nothing I love better than getting my hands on beautiful china. Loved this post since I am such a blue and white collector. My favorite 'thing' is that tiny little miniature china cabinet that you display. I have been looking for something similar since I first saw yours. Love it. Have fun packing. Hugs, Deb

  3. Oh, I knew you were gonna say that! Because less than two years ago I was in the same position. I sold some, because just how many dishes do you need? Well, when you start packing them, you start thinking about that. But don't give up the pretty ones! I did some of mine and now regret it, but I barely have room for what I have.

  4. When we sold my mom's house in 1992 she had nine complete dinner sets, a set of her mother's and dozens of miscellaneous plates, coffee cups, creamers/sugars, and so many glasses I could not keep up. This was before the internet and way way before blogging. She would have loved tablescaping. I would love to be able to go back and borrow, but unfortunately all was sold or passed along to family, I kept very little, as I had dishes of my own. I have added more and I do not have the room!! xo

    1. Barbara ~ are you sure we are not distant cousins? I seem to share that same dish collecting gene with your mom! I would have adored her!!

  5. My first thought when I saw your title was "probably when you have to start packing them all up"! So, great minds think alike. Don't get rid of any of your dishes, you'll find some place in your new home to use them. You'll regret it if you do.

One can never have too many dishes or too many pairs of shoes!! (An old Confusious saying!) LOL

  9. Don't do anything you might regret! Just get lots of boxes and take your sweet old time!

  10. Hahaha. Funny question.

My answer to the question of "How does one know when one has too many dishes?" :

    Ask my husband.

I have entirely WAY TOO MANY and need to downsize before ever EVER moving them!

You poor thing. I feel your pain, sincerely and strongly.

    Hugs.

  13. Susan, I go by the motto that one can never have too many dishes. ;-) If I lived near you, I'd be there to help you pack all your pretty dishes for the move. Your dishes are going to feel right at home here in TX. Love the blue calico tea caddy. I've never seen one.

    1. It's completely shocking! I went into one cabinet and could not believe some of the things I found. Apparently, the word "minimalist" is not in my lexicon.
