A Cottage Bed and Tweaked Foot Stool

A couple of days ago I showed you the chair I painted white for my
studio.  Well my studio has a bed too.  I finally finished painting the bed
which was my intention all along.

The bed and chair used to look like this.

But everything looks so much brighter and happier now.

I still have to paint the walls and have not decided on the color yet.  They
are currently beige.  The color choices are a soft sage green, an off white
or perhaps a pale blue.  All of these colors are in the room in some fashion
right now as well as pink and spots of yellow.  The room is an eclectic mix
of vintage, garage sale and old family treasures.

This little stool belonged to my grandmother.  I painted it white and
covered it in some fabric that I plan to use in Mom's bedroom when I
start working in there.

But for now, I want to get this room finished before I move on to the big
project in her room.  And what is Bentley doing while all of this is
going on ~ well napping of course!

Big Texas Hugs,
Susan and Bentley

  12. Susan, If you don't mind me saying I think that an off white would be the best. that way you can change the color any time you want ~ with pillows or accents ~ Love what you are doing ~ love you

Have you seen any bloggers post rooms painted with Sherwin Williams Sea Salt? I haven't seen it in person but in pictures it's such a pretty color.

  19. Your bed and the whole room for that matter looks so comfy and cheerful. Personally, I think it would be hard to get anything done in you beautiful studio since that bed would be calling out to me all the time to come take a relaxing nap. LOL.

  23. The bed and chair look fantastic, so comfy. My daughter has a beautiful sage green bedroom which I love, so relaxing. And I painted my bedroom and bath the lightest softest blue. I had it done just before having back surgery and when I came home to recuperate it was so comforting. I have never regretted painting it blue.

  29. Hi Susan! Lovely to catch up with you and Bentley! Love your studio bedroom - the white-wash is so cheerful. Thirty years ago, we were stripping everything and restoring the original wood color. Today - we paint and shabby our furniture. Except me - my husband likes the wood look. Manly, I suppose. Now - as to your walls, in the photo, they look like a happy yellow color and splendid with your decor. Like sunshine! Hope you give yellow a shot.
    Joy!

    1. Well, have you ever seen pics of my family room. Tons of stained wood it there. I have been tempted to paint it but there is no way that is happening as far as hubby is concerned. It is really cozy though.

  34. Susan, what a wonderfully relaxing room you've created! I've been traveling in S. America for almost 3 weeks, and I can't begin to tell you how inviting your newly-painted bed looks. :-)

I'm afraid I'm only now learning of your Mom's passing. Know I'm praying for you as you do the hard work of grieving. The room you're creating with special memories of her will be wonderful!
