Y'All Stop By

I'm hanging around the cottage today fluffing, doing laundry, making
out my grocery list.  Friday tasks.

I like to have everything done so that when David comes home
we can just have a nice, relaxing weekend.

We'll just walk past the living room and head through the hall into
the family room.

Sit down and make yourself comfy.  I'll go get us some sweet tea.

You can watch the end of Mrs Miniver with me.  I love old movies.
Sometimes I will watch a movie just to see the houses and they way
the rooms are decorated.  I think I will go make some popcorn.  What
movie do you want to watch next?  Rebecca?  Mr Blandings Build His
Dream House?  Leave Her to Heaven?  Pillow Talk?  We have about
four hours before David gets home and teases us about watching
movies all afternoon:-)

Have a happy Friday!

Big Texas Hugs,
Susan and Bentley

    1. We have lots of wind up vintage clocks in this house and currently none of them work! One of these days I am going to call up a clock repair man. I am guessing he will be able to buy some big new toy after he comes to visit us ;-)

  8. Sweet tea, yum. Love it. Did David approve of the painted commode? Surely he didn't mind, it looks so pretty. Love the rooster on the wall. You have an interesting & somewhat eclectic mix of unusual furniture & decor. I love your style.

    1. David did not mind about the painted furniture. As long as I don't touch his paneled walls and a few other pieces of furniture he's okay with it. We are sort of eclectic, but we really love the British style around here. That's why David keeps a stiff upper lip when I get out the paint brush ;-)

  10. I love Mr Blanding Builds his Dream House. Mrs B, ( Myrna Loy a favorite of mine ) explaining the color selections to painter so exactly, a certain apple, best grade A butter, a blue dot in a sample of wallpaper, and that certain shade of a green thread. Then the painter is asked by the contractor if he has all the colors and the painter says " green, red ,yellow ,and blue" makes me howl every time.

  12. Let's watch "Pillow Talk"!!! I LOVE that movie! I love all of those old Doris Day/Rock Hudson romps! So much fun! I'm with you on those afternoons/evenings spent just watching old movies.

Your home is so pretty. I love the way you have the bookshelves styled in the family room. Your living room is gorgeous, too...so chic! I love traditional styling so much. I'm forced to compromise to a certain extent here. I have a Messy Marvin for a husband, so I have to consider that when making purchases. :-)

  15. WOW!!!! You are the only other person i've ever heard say they watch old movies for the decorating. I've been doing that for years.
A GREAT one for cottage life decor in the 1930's is "On Borrowed Time" with Lionel Barrymore. It is to perfection!!!! It is also a great movie that I think you would REALLY enjoy. My DVD is worn thin!!! You can get it on Ebay....I think that is the only place. Would love to know your opinion on it...well worth it!!!!
Have a great weekend!!!! WE are hot-hot-hot in California!!!! & in a drought!!!
