The Christmas Puppy

I am having a hard time getting into the Christmas spirit
this year so I am going through the Christmas memories that
are stored away in my heart.  One of my most precious
of memories is the one of my darling little Scottie dog
named Bonnie Heather MacGregor.  Little Bonnie was
my first dog and she was also my Christmas present when
I was five years old.

Bonnie and I grew up together.  She was my constant
companion who participated in every little adventure
I planned.  Bonnie patiently endured wearing little dresses
while I pushed her in a doll stroller.  I took her to my
kindergarten class for show and tell.  She was right by my
side when along with the neighborhood kids, I dug a
big hole in my parent's front yard hoping to find
Wonderland just like Alice.  And she was right by my
side when I cried myself to sleep after being punished
for digging that deep hole.

She went through elementary school days, Brownie Troop
meetings and more.  She was by my side when I practiced
ballet and wrote in my diary each night.  She was there when
I had my first kiss.

Bonnie was the best Christmas present ever.  I have never
stopped missing her.  Bonnie died when I was 17.  We
grew up together.  She taught me about loving a dog and I
treasure her memory to this day and will have a dog until
the day I die.  Merry Christmas dear little Bonnie.  I will
always love you.

Big Texas Hugs,
Susan and Bentley

  4. Bonnie even had a middle name? You really DID love that pooch! What a sweet story, Susan. Bonnie was loyal as they come. I'm pretty sure I would have left you on your own to face the music after digging that hole! :-)
