In The Path Of a Hurricane

It's not a porch swing day by any stretch of the imagination.  The South Texas
Gulf Coast and my little town of Victoria is boarding up and gathering
supplies to brace ourselves for Hurricane Harvey.  The latest reports are
that the storm is now between a category 3 and 4 ~ in other words, a
massive storm.  They are predicting up to 24 inches of rain over the
next few days.

We are about 25 miles from the coast, so, we won't be badly harmed
by the storm surge, which is expected to be huge.  We will however,
be prone to flooding during the storm and any storm that hits to the north
of us because all the water runs downstream through the Guadalupe
River and all the many, many streams headed to the Gulf.

Please keep us in your prayers.  It is going to be a very scary time for us.

Thank you,
Susan and Bentley

  1. I hope Harvey doesn't come your way! We are sometimes in the path of these storms and can get terrible rains and tornados. Stay safe.........

    1. I wish the storm would just turn around, stay at sea for a bit and then disappear.

  3. Funny years ago here in New England we had such awful hurricanes. I remember all the need Hurricanes starting with Carol in 1954. They can be very scary, in the 80's Gloria was pretty bad and a tree snapped in the front yard scaring my young son so much he announced he wished he lived on the moon no hurricanes there. Be safe.

  5. Our thoughts and prayers . . . It's good to have warning, but it's almost "surreal" to see the beauty and anticipate the storm. :(

  7. Susan, you were one of the first people I thought of when I saw the predicted path of Harvey! We are praying for you and others affected by the storm. My daughter, daughter-in-law, and grandkids are on their way to stay with us in Waco to avoid the storm and its aftermath.
