This is my vintage wine decanter. My Mom gave it to me several years ago. She used to have lots of luncheons, teas and bridge parties at her house and she used to serve sherry from it. The glass decanter is etched with grapes and leaves. The metal stand is decorated with grape vines as well.
When I lived in Virginia, I found these darling little sherry glasses at an antique shop in Historic Leesburg. They are favorites of mine. Please go visit two favorite blogs of mine, Cindy's My Romantic Home for Show and Tell Friday and The Girl Creative for New Friend Friday.
Bentley, are you getting set up for your Pink Saturday post? He's napping. Maybe he's dreaming in pink!!

This is a lovely piece - I've never seen anything like this before. (which is only a personal comment. I'm no great shakes at vintage or antiques =]) I've had fun for a while scrolling back through your previous posts. Your dolls are adorable -fun, fun, fun! I have that very same telly phone booth tea tin (and a double decker bus) and your cottage is adorable! My mom has a beautiful miniatures doll house! I, also, see that we love a lot of the same movies and music! Thanks for coming and spending time with me in the sunny spot!

ReplyDeleteI love the decanter. It must hold a lot of memories for you. My mom was a bunco and bingo player. See you on Saturday!

That is one lovely decanter! I have never seen anything like it. I'm sure that would be very collectable especially with wine being all the rage now.

Some people believe that simply opening your favorite bottle a couple of hours before serving will allow it to breathe. With some of the older reds, the taste may be masked by an astringent quality and can be rather harsh. Allowing the bottle to breathe can expose it to oxygen, which effectively allows the full character, bouquet, and flavor to develop.

What is the brand and pattern of the glasses in this picture? If you have this information, please let me know. Thanks!
