I know that all of you have your 4th of July decorations
set and ready to go. Well, I'll tell you a little story ...
when my Mom was expecting me her due date was July 4. Everyone
was excited ~ an Independence Day baby. Well, I was 2 weeks
late. Ever since then I have been running a bit off schedule!
I promise I will get to the decorating part ~ I always do. But I am
also thinking about food because that's what everyone always asks
about. What shall we serve?
I am thinking about BBQ baby back ribs, BBQ chicken, corn on the cob
and coleslaw. Oh and some big fluffy biscuits with butter and honey.
And ...
Apple pie!
I'll let you in on a little secret ~ although I really love to cook,
I am not much of a baker. It's about time I got with the
program. After all who doesn't like pie???
This is the year to do it. So I'll be peeling and slicing the apples and
making my own pie crust.
Yes, we will be having great big slices of warm homemade apple pie
with big scoops of vanilla ice cream and watching the fireworks.
The United States of America, my home sweet home!
Off to join ~
Bentley ~ I saw two little female Yorkies on my way home today.
They just moved into the neighborhood. Maybe you would like to
have a bath and get all spiffed up in case we run into them!
Hugs,
Susan and Bentley
Have a great 4th of July! I love apple pie! xo
ReplyDeleteSusan, I bake cakes, cookies, and various desserts often enough. I am scared of pies because of the crust...staying away from them. Far away. happy 4th, olive
ReplyDeleteOh...I love apple pie and the 4th of July!!

Susan, I'm running behind too. Not one thing out this year. It's just the two of us for the 4th, so I've lacked the motivation to get something done. Perhaps tomorrow I'll get around to putting some patriotic decor out to get us in a festive mood.
ReplyDeleteLove the idea of an apple pie. I'm not in the kitchen often these days, but I do make good pies. Perhaps that's what I'll do tomorrow.
Good luck with the pie........And happy 4th.........Sarah
Hi Susan, Happy Early Birthday!!! I come from a long line of pie bakers! My nana, was the master pie maker, now my Aunt Mae, her daughter. We all get together on "Pie Day" a national holiday in my family, the day before Thanksgiving! It's a blast! We have baked as many as 43 pies! Yes, it's a long baking day!
ReplyDeleteWe also make pies all year round! You may have seen some of my pies that I've posted! Love'em! I'll be making a blueberry and strawberry pie, it seems to be a tradition!
Your menu sounds delicious, and I'll bet your pie will be amazing!
Happy 4th of July!!!
This post made me smile a lot...I WAS born on the 4th of July! I love my birth date, and (though from the UK) learnt the song as a child...great to hear you playing it now as I'm typing!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful 4th of July, Susan and enjoy the pie making and eating :)

ReplyDeleteOh apple pie, looks so good. Great idea for the 4th and totally patriotic. Thanks tons for joining TTT. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeletebe glad you were born later...so you have your own special day you do not have to share!
ReplyDeleteMy daughter is due any day. She already has a Halloween baby so we think a fourth of July baby would be a perfect addition. Have fun making your pie.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun post! I'm sure your apple pie was delicious and how wonderful that Bentley has some new friends!! I hope you both have a wonderful weekend!
