Early Morning in My Kitchen

The early morning hours in my kitchen.  David has already left for
the office.  It's very quiet.  The morning light is just beginning to filter
in through the windows, yet the kitchen is still dark.

Little lamps are turned on to guide our way.  No big bright overhead lights now.
We are just easing into the day.

The soft glow of lamp light shining on the roos.
Daylight beginning to peek through the window over the sink.

My first cup of tea is brewing and a lemon is ready to slice.
Hot tea is a gentle way to start the day.  Coffee can come later.

Familiar and favorite things nearby

Heading out to the back hall.  Reaching for the leash I keep in
the basket.  Bentley and I will be going walkies soon.

Another roo to great us.

I can hear the school bus making it's first run to pick up the
kids going to St Joe's.  Soon everyone will be out and about.

But until that happens, Bentley and I will treasure these quiet early
morning hours.

Have a wonderful and happy day!

Big Texas Hugs,
Susan and Bentley

  1. A very cozy kitchen to wake up to. Tea before coffee is new to me. I guess I have always needed that first cup of coffee to get me going. Enjoy your day. I love the miniatures. :) Deb

    1. From Monday through Friday, I always have tea in the morning, and maybe, just maybe a cup of coffee later. Saturday and Sunday are coffee days. Don't know why I have this schedule, but I do. Glad you love miniatures. I do too!

  4. Hi Susan! Oh, how lovely in your kitchen this early morning! Thank you so much for offering to send me some Diet Cherry Dr. Pepper! You would, wouldn't you? I appreciate that so so much! Someone suggested Target, I did and they sell it! Yay! Again, Susan, thank you for your sweetness.
    Be a sweetie,
    Shelia ;)

  5. Hi Susan,
I just posted a comment but don't see it so hope this doesn't come up twice. I just love how you used photos and words to share a simple time in your day with us, far away as we may be. I felt as if I was there having a quiet cup of tea with you. I love what I think are miniature appliances on your counter? I have four dollhouses and minis really catch my eye; I'd love to read more about yours (if that's what they are). Beautiful post! Enjoy the rest of your day,
    Hugs from Maine,
    Cheryl

  6. Thanks for all your kind words Cheryl! One thing I love about blogging is all the wonderful friends I have made! All of you are so very precious to me. This has been especially true this past year. After packing up, selling three homes, moving to Texas with my husband, Mom and Bentley and then losing my Mom last February, I would have been totally lost without my blogging friends. But y'all have stood by me and carried me through the tough days. My door is always open to each and every one of you and y'all have possession of my heart and Bentley's too! Now about those miniatures ~ well, I just love them. I have a miniature stove, a miniature hutch filled with dishes and two chairs on my kitchen windowsill above the sink. They are a happy and friendly sight while I am washing dishes every day. Thanks for stopping by Cheryl!!

  7. Oh how I agree! No bright lights just the glow of a little lamp, listening to the sounds of the morning. I turn on the radio at 1515 that plays old songs from the 50/60's like Sinatra and have a seat at the kitchen table where my view is of my next door neighbors beautiful garden. Love your little stove, too cute! I always know it is time to get up if I am off when I hear the school buses go by..we live down the street from the bus garage and when I hear the nearby church bells chime.

    1. Early morning is such a magical time of the day. I too listen to oldies on the radio in my kitchen. It's soothing music. Sometimes I switch it with classical. Isn't it comforting to hear the school bus and the church bells ring? Makes me feel that all is right with the world. Thanks for stopping by for a visit!

  10. I can't think of a better way to start the day, in the quiet with a cup of tea. It's my favorite time of day, when the hustle and bustle hasn't started yet. A peaceful new day beginning!

  14. I love the shots of your kitchen from an early morning perspective. Early mornings are great for getting your thoughts together without the interruptions that can occur later in the day. I complain about getting up at the butt crack of dawn to see Ramon off to work, but once I'm fully awake I appreciate seeing the sun come up and the quiet that exists before the world gets moving around here!

You can be anything that you choose if you apply yourself and try hard to work toward that goal. But being a Vampire is not what it seems like. It’s a life full of good, and amazing things. We are as human as you are.. It’s not what you are that counts, But how you choose to be. Do you want a life full of interesting things? Do you want to have power and influence over others? To be charming and desirable? To have wealth, health, and longevity, I can help you solve any problem you are having
