Vintage Bling!

It's been a tough few days. Nothing like a bit of vintage bling to cheer things up a bit. I'm thinking of Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's. When my Aunt was young, she was a model in New York and she loved to stroll by the windows of expensive shops and dream of beautiful things. So Aunt Susan, this post is for you!!

I'm off to visit Suzanne for some fun this Vintage Thingie Thursday. Come along with me ...

You too Bentley!!!

Vintage Chickens

Ever since getting to know Thelma, I have really started to like ceramic chickens ~ like these vintage cuties.

Suddenly it seems as though I am seeing chickens everywhere and when I do, home they come. I have no idea how old they are, but the gals at Blue Moon Antiques seem to believe that they are vintage ~ so I do too. Wait a minute ...

What is this???

Bentley, this is a post about vintage ceramic chickens. How did your vintage teddy bear get onto this post??? What can I say, Bentley is a little scene stealer!! Thank you Suzanne for hosting another Vintage Thingie Thursday. Bentley and I are on our way over to visit you.

Bentley, you are such a little ham!!

Vintage Dolls

I have a little collection of vintage dolls. In the center is my Wendy Doll by Madame Alexander. Wendy is all ready for a vintage school day in her cute outfit.

Wendy is even wearing cute saddle shoes.

Then there is a very, very vintage Ginny doll. She is wearing a cute little red turtleneck with a red plaid skirt. She has her cute little Wire Hair Terrier pup with her too.

And finally a bit more current, yet still vintage Ginny, wearing an even more vintage Ginny dress. I am linking up with Suzanne the Colorado Lady for more Vintage Thingie Thursday fun.

Bentley, lets look through your toy basket. I know that you have inherited some vintage toys from Bitterman!!

Vintage Mixing Bowls

I seem to be on a kitchen kick this week. So .... here are a few of my favorite vintage mixing bowls. I love this soft yellow one with the blue stripe. I purchased it from a wonderful antiques dealer in New Hampshire just shortly after David and I were married.

This iron stone mixing bowl belonged to my great grandmother. It shows lots of wear, but that makes me love it all the more!! Isn't that a great vintage wicker covered jug? A friend of mine gave it to me. Thank you Kathy!!

Did you see these beautiful free range eggs? They are from my neighbor's chickens. Thank you Amy!! Oh how I long to live on a farm!! While I am searching for acreage, please go visit Suzanne for Vintage Thingie Thursday affectionally known as VTT.

How would you like it if we got our own chickens? Don't worry Bentley, they will sleep in the chicken coop at night.

A Favorite Vintage Bag

This is one of my favorite vintage bags. I don't know too much about this style except that the fabric is bark cloth. This bag just evokes thoughts of a more gentle and peaceful time.

The bark cloth has such a great cottage look and I love the wicker handle that widens and wraps around the sides and bottom of the bag.

Now I'm putting on the kettle for another cup of tea and I am off to visit Suzanne for Vintage Thingie Thursday. Can't wait to see what everyone has to share this week!!

Come sit in my lap Bentley. I'll show you pics of Suzanne's puppies!!

Nancy Drew and a Flashlight

Before Agatha Christie and Dorothy Sayers. Before Aunt Dimity and Agatha Raisin, there was Nancy Drew. When I was a young girl, I loved Nancy Drew and wanted to be just like her. Of course, I also wanted to be a ballerina, a cowgirl and an architect.

Here it is, a real treasure of mine. My Nancy Drew Mystery Game! The Secret in the Old Attic, Red Gate Farm, The Sign of the Twisted Candles! Wow do those titles bring back memories. My friend Caroline and I used to ride our bikes to the library and check out book after book. Oh look, here's an old flashlight to shine a light on those great memories!

It's supposed to rain again today. We could stay inside, bake some cookies and play a game or two. When we get bored doing that, let's go over and visit our friend
Suzanne, The Colorado Lady to investigate the other Vintage Thingies!

Don't worry Bentley. You can take turns sitting in our laps. Maybe we will bake you some peanut butter doggie treats too!!

Susan and Bentley
