We Are So Lucky

On this 10th anniversary of 9/11 ~ I am reminded of the
privilege we have to live in this country.  We can enjoy our lives with
those we love.  We are free to enjoy freedom and happiness.

We are blessed to live in such a beautiful country and to
enjoy it's bounties.

We are free to be creative.

Most of us will never know what it is to go hungry.

We can enjoy simple pleasures.

And the special little things that bring us delight.

I am happy to call this great land home.
May we continue to enjoy our freedom and may we never
forget how fragile life is.

I am happy to join

God Bless us all.

Hugs,
Susan and Bentley

My Little World Part 3

I have this little sewing machine.  It's not actually a miniature
but it's a music box.

It reminds me of the vintage treadle sewing machine that my
grandmother and great grandmother had.

I taught myself to sew when I was in my teens and I remember
spending many hours up in our attic sewing room happily
sewing away on my machine and listening to my favorite music.

This sweet little remnant of vintage pink roses is printed on
the cutest crinkly fabric.  I wish there was more of it, but there
were only a few scraps I found at a thrift shop mixed in with some
other remnants.

Have a Happy Pink Day ~ and don't forget to visit

Bentley ~ I bought a gallon of Beach House Blue for the living
room.  I'm going to start painting.  Be careful not to get any paint
on your whiskers!

Susan and Bentley

Meet Aimee ~ The Crafty Farm Girl

Okay all you farm chicks ~ grab your aprons
and ...

your boots too.  We are headed over to meet
Country Living Reader's Choice Nominee
Aimee ...

Aimee is a delightful and talented woman who lives in an upscale town
in suburban Connecticut.  She is not one of the "yoga and Starbucks" crowd
but in her heart she is a real farm girl.  She raises goats.  Like these little
sweethearts ...

Kiki and Grace.  Could they be any cuter ~ NO!

Lots of chickens!

She spends her vacations in Wyoming ~ so she's my next door neighbor.
I'm just melting looking into the eye of this sweet horse.
Ya'll know how much I love horses!

She plans to have a cowgirl retreat one day named Saddlebags where women of
all ages will be able to unleash their inner cowgirls.
Yee Haw ~ sign me up Aimee!

She is a true Renaissance woman who once designed sewing patterns for
Simplicity and worked as an assistant to Martha Stewart before Martha
became famous.

She has been published by Minwax for her book about restoring furniture.

Check out her fabulous recipes too!
Is there anything this farm girl cannot do?  I don't think so.

Just take a look at this fabulous chicken coop!  Aimee ~ if you ever decide
to go into construction, my husband has a job reserved for you!

Here is her rooster ~ King Strut.  All the girls in the coop must be
swooning!!!

I am saying my cowgirl prayers for Aimee to win the
Country Living Reader's Choice Award.  But she also needs your VOTES.
So please mosey on over to visit

and see for yourself what a talented farm girl she is!

I am joining

and

Bentley ~ maybe Aimee can convince you that we should have our
own chickens too!

Hugs,
Susan and Bentley

A What Was I Thinking Moment

Yesterday I started painting my living room walls this color ~
Heavy Cream.

A perfectly fine color, but one chosen in a moment of
design amnesia.

"What could I have been thinking when I chose this color?",  I said to
myself as I finished painting 1/4 of a a wall.  "This isn't me!!!"

I promptly went through my paint chips and there it was ~
the color I should have chosen:

Beach House

It's so me.

What a relief.  I must have been momentarily overtaken by a design virus
that left me stricken with design amnesia.

So here is the new and final plan.  Beach House blue walls with white wainscoting.
Then I want to add a coffered ceiling.  I'll have to sell hubby on this idea
to get his carpenters over here to build it for me.

Are you relieved too Bentley?  Bentley doesn't care ~ he's outside
chasing a cat out of his yard!

Susan and Bentley

Tools of the Trade

I'll be taking a couple of days off to get creative in my cottage.
Let the re-decorating begin!

Bentley ~ maybe you should wear a smock.  The last time we painted
you really got into the job!

Hugs,
Susan and Bentley
