I Heart Barkcloth

Years ago I purchased two barkcloth drapery panels from a local
antique shop.  I am taking them to the new house.  Not sure what
I will do with them because they are only 34 inches wide.

Of course I could always make pillows from them, or just save
the fabric for a beach house on the gulf one day (wish, wish).
I have always been fond of barkcloth with it's easy going
beachy feel.  It's a favorite thing!

Let's Talk About Front Entries and Landscaping

I am thinking about adding a glass front door and glass sidelight to the entry of our
house in Victoria, Texas.  Currently there is a solid door which is nice, but I want to bring
more light into the foyer.  So ... I went to one of my favorite neighborhoods here in
Boise, Idaho and found a couple of examples of just how much a lovely entry can
improve the look of a house.

By the way ~ don't you love the landscaping?

I estimate the age of this house to be about the same as the one in Victoria which
was built in 1948.  It has the same low slung mid century traditional style.  To me these
doors just seem to say ~ "welcome, come on and take a look inside."

Here is the house next door.  Also a mid century charmer.  Once again, I love
the landscaping.  Hostas and Japanese maples add color and interest.

I do love trees!

Pretty doors filled with beveled glass.  Love it!

I am getting so excited.  One more week before we close on our new home
in Victoria!  It will be hard to sleep at night!!!

Real Estate Mogul Wannabe

This afternoon I played real estate mogul wannabe.
We are in the process of selling two houses (and a third one in the wings).
I showed one house this afternoon and then ...

Went to our lawyer's office to create a purchase agreement for my Mom's house.
No agent on this, sale by owner so I am getting well versed in legalese.
(I always did flirt with the idea of going to law school)

While at the lawyers office we also discussed the sale of our business
which we are in the middle of as well.

After a couple of hours of this, I managed to hang on to most of
my "stripes" and was actually starting to enjoy all of the wheeling
and dealing.  Well, sort of lol.

Although "The Donald" does not need to feel one bit nervous about my
sudden sense of real estate prowess ...

I must say, I always did enjoy playing Monopoly!
Regardless of my love for the board game, I think I will stick to
decorating.  Less exhausting!

Hey Bentley ~ your mama is going to sleep early tonight.
She's pooped!

Twenty fours years ago today, David and I were married in Houston, Texas.
We're still having fun and he's still the one!

Soon we will be headed back to Texas where it all began.
Yee Haw!
