I started skating when I was very young.
All through elementary school and high school I went skating
on weekends with my friends. I loved everything about it ~ the
crisp cold air, cute little skating skirts, hot chocolate by the fire
in the clubhouse.
I made this little ice skating ornament for the tree with pink laces
and a pink pom pom.
I have not skated for a while, but am hoping that there will be a
new pair of skates for me under the Christmas tree this year. And
tonight I will be watching The Bishop's Wife staring Cary Grant,
Loretta Young and David Niven. I love the skating scene in that movie!
Have a wonderful weekend and don't forget to visit ~
Bentley ~ maybe I could put you in a little puppy carrier and take you
skating with me.
Hugs,
Susan and Bentley
How sweet these are. Bentley would love to go skating too...I have a friend who ice skates.
ReplyDeleteHi Susan and Bentley! I tried skating as a kid but just kept landing on my butt! I love your cute ornament though. Thanks for the reminder about the movie. I have never seen this early version. xo
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet ornament! I love the ice cube snowman too! We don't have many places to ice skate in Alabama but I do enjoy watching it on tv. I'm going to see if Netflix has The Bishop's Wife, I've never seen it before. Thanks! :)

Love the Skate! Happy Pink Saturday. ~Marti
ReplyDeletei've only ice skated (sort of) once in my life. It wasn't inside at a nice smooth "gambonied" skating rink. Nope it was a small pond on my uncle's property in the country. It was NOT smooth until you got to the middle....there were twigs stuck in the ice and some rocks (mostly around the edges. I couldn't stay up long enough to get to the middle. After about my fifth fall within the first 15 minutes, I went back to the house and helped my aunt make hot chocolate! Never tried it again!
ReplyDeleteI do love "The Bishop's Wife" (the original Grant/Young/Niven one.) It's one of my favorite Christmas movies. A definite must for the season!
How cute! A local church is putting on The Bishop's Wife this weekend. Should be fun! Happy PS!

ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome ornament. I have a pond across the street and I would love to sit in the window and watch my daughter learn to twirl around on her skates and try to do jumps. Thank you for bringing that memory back.

I'm smitten your skate ornament. I just might need to do something with that theme for my girls this year. My husband and I met ice skating in college in 1988. Ice skating is very dear to my heart.
