Fall On My Potting Sink

The last few days here have been so beautiful.  The temps cooled off
and the humidity level dropped and now it's a joy to be outside.  I am
loving it!   I was suddenly inspired to do a little outdoor decorating, so
this morning I took my cup of tea outside and started to tweak my
potting sink on the back porch.

Shocker ~ I didn't even need to spray myself down with bug spray.
No mosquitos!  None, zilch!!  And none of those pesky no see-ums either.
What a treat to be outside without any concern for nasty chemicals
sprayed all over myself.  Yee Haw!!!

Everything got a good cleaning and then the decorating began.

If you were to read the thermometer to the right, it would read ~

Perfection
Get your butt outside and work in the garden, because who
knows how long this will last!

Have I ever told you how much I love this potting sink.  It it situated on our
back porch and you access the porch through French doors in the
breakfast room.  Every week when I do my grocery shopping I like to buy
daisies and other flowers.  I alway trim them and put them in pitchers
and vases right here.  It's so handy!

We may not have any changing leaves here, but we can add some fall
touches around and make it feel like autumn is truly on it's way.

Bentley ~ maybe mama will wear a sweater when she takes you
for walkies this evening :-)

Vintage Inspiration for My Garden

I have spent a wonderful week at home working in my
garden and fluffing the cottage and my front porch.

I have been taking lots of vintage items and using them
in different ways.  I love to rearrange just as you all do
and every time I do, the results just give me a  fresh new
feeling!

Of course I have managed to work in a little bit of pink
because pink is one of my favorite colors.  I have decided that
I need a new pair of pink clogs.  I love to wear pink too!

I'm done fluffing for a bit and I am off to enjoy some parties ~

and of course

If you have not entered my giveaway yet, please do on my July 18th Post.  I will
announce the winner on Monday, July 25th.

Bentley ~ I have so enjoyed being home with you all week.
I'll have to take another vacation again soon!

Lots of Love,
Susan and Bentley

Miniature Hostas for My Garden

I have lots of shade in my garden around the cottage, so
I am always looking for interesting things to plant.  It's hard
because so many plants like sun.  When I discovered these mini
hostas, I fell in love with them.

And mini ferns too ... so cute that the fairies must be
dancing!!

Bentley and I wish you a happy Monday.

Lots of love,
Susan and Bentley

Who Can Answer This Question?

To the left of the walnut tree trunk and behind the
deep ground cover ~ is a type of rose that grows up and
over the fence between my garden and the garden
next door where Amy's chickens live (ie Thelma and
the girls)

Here is my question ~ what type of rose is it?  I did not
plant it, it was here when we moved in years ago.  It only
blooms at this time of year and for a short time.  My yard is in
deep shade, so it's not a sun lover at all.  I'm quite sure it's a
type of rose because the bush has thorns and the buds look like
rose buds.

Neither Amy nor I do anything special for it.  It is just
happy to be.  It lives between two big black walnut trees
and I have been told that nothing likes to grow near black
walnuts, but the ground cover in the foreground and the rose bush
are quite content.

Any guesses?

Bentley is completely hidden in that ground cover and
is chasing cats through it daily.  It's a full time job!!

What To Wear in the Garden

Lot's of rain, but not much chance to work in the garden.
But ...
when I do get a chance, I know just what to wear!

An old Ralph Lauren pink t-shirt that's too worn to wear
anywhere else, but still makes me feel stylish.

Some green garden clogs
because ...
I love to dress in pink and green!

Some new pink gardening gloves because I managed to
lose one glove from my old pink pair.

A pink ball cap and some new pink and green floral
shades to keep the sun out of my eyes.

Now ...

All I need now is a day without rain!!

While I wait for gardening weather I am joining ~

and

Bentley is very busy chasing a cat out of our yard!
I can't even coax him inside with a treat!!

Love,
Susan and Bentley
