Red!

If a picture is worth a thousand words ... then enough said!

Fever is coming down and I am starting to feel a bit better. I have
not joined Sue for Rednesday for a while because frankly I thought I
had run out of reds.  But, since I have managed to dig some up here goes ~

Now Bentley ~ don't get too accustom to having Momma home all day.  I am
going to try to get back out in the world tomorrow.

Hugs,
Susan and Bentley

What Happened to All of the Christmas Boxes???

I am home from work today and I thought that I was going to get lots of
Christmas decorating done.  At least that was the plan!

I brought down boxes from the attic and I thought that I had everything
that I needed, but I must be missing a box or two.  So, it's off to hunt for
missing decorations.  I guess I won't make it on time for the Porch Decorating
Party over At The Picket Fence.  So ...

I'll just have to take pics of my porch later.  Until then, I'll leave you with
these few pics from my kitchen.  Oh ~ in case you are wondering, I have not
baked any cookies yet either.  I better start getting busy!

I am joining Sue for Rednesday.
I'm late for that party too.

Bentley ~ help me find those boxes.  I thought they were up in the
attic, but maybe your Daddy put them in the garage.

Hugs,
Susan and Bentley

Tis the Season for Red

Ah yes ~ here it is the season for red!

Of course y'all know how much I love red ~
so I guess it's always the right season for red around here!

But I can really go wild decorating with red for Christmas!

I'm linking up to Rednesday of course ...
and
Wow Us Wednesday because reds wow me.

An update on Bentley's dental bone:  he buried it out in the yard and
dug it back up and is chewing it now.  I wonder if is still tasty?  He
seems to think so.

Wowsa Reds!

I am starting to think about my plans for Thanksgiving dinner.  I found these
adorable red silicone utensils at my local co-op the other day.

I  just could not pass them up because they are so cute and red!  Look at
that sweet little whisk ~ I love it.

Back to Thanksgiving dinner.  Last year everyone loved the turkey, the yam
casserole, the roasted Brussel sprouts and the cranberry sauce.

The stuffing ~ not so much.

If any of you have a great stuffing recipe that your family and friends all love,
please, please let me know.

What's this???  A Christmas spatula ~ I thought I said no Christmas
decorations until after Thanksgiving!

I am linking to

Rednesday
Wow Us Wednesday

Bentley ~ you liked my stuffing last year didn't you?

Shopping the Cottage for Fall

I have been sorting through things I already have in the cottage to
decide how to transform the summery white, soft pink and green decor
on my front porch.

I'm not sure what I want to do.  Should I choose the deep reds and some warm
tones of rust?  I'm not much of an orange girl, and y'all know it takes me a
while to get with the program.  If I choose the deep reds it will be easy
to transition into Christmas.  I can compliment this with lots of white
pumpkins, seed pods, apples and pine cones.

I pulled out this fabric swatch.  I am loving the colors ~ they look so rich
and warm and I love the way it compliments this old marmalade crock I
found yesterday at a consignment shop.  I could use it and some coordinating
fabrics for pillows on the wicker chairs.

Or what about this organic look?  Or a combination of the two?
Let me know what you think.  I am hoping to complete the porch by
this weekend.

I am linking up to these parties for more inspiration ~

Wow Bentley ~ the squirrels are racing around like crazy outside!

Vintage Salad Days

We are eating lots of salads these days.  While I did not plant a veggie garden
this year, many of our friends did and they have been kind enough to
share some of their tasty harvest with us.

I'm pulling out a vintage salad cookbook, a vintage salad bowl and a
sweet vintage salad dressing carafe for some retro tossing.

I love the radishes on this bowl and the rippled glass on the carafe.

Just add some vintage salad forks and we are ready to dive into a
big healthy salad ~ yum!

I am joining ~

and

Bentley had lot's of fun visiting with the refrigerator delivery men yesterday.
But I don't think he understood why they could not stay and play with
him all day.

Vintage and New Kitchen Reds

Vintage kitchen towels are so colorful and fun.

Our local Co-Op is selling these cute reproduction's of
1950's towels. They are flour sack towels that are soft
and cute too.

Just a bit of cheerfulness on this gray and rainy Wednesday morning.

I am joining Sue for Rednesday

Bentley doesn't like the rain, so he has gone back to
bed!!

Chicken Fever

Ever since Thelma started coming over to visit us,
I have been crazy about chickens!
If I see something that has chickens on it ~ it's probably
coming home with me.
I think I have ...
Chicken Fever!!!

I know that Chicken Fever is highly contagious because
my best friend Robin aka The Decorating Tennis Girl has caught it from me.
So be careful or you may be catching it too.
I'm getting nervous about Easter. It's going to be a lot of
temptation for me when I see all of those cute Peeps!!

After you go visit Robin, be sure to visit our friend Sue for
and Kim for

Bentley ~ should Momma get you a little fleece blanket with
chickens on it??
No ~ are you sure???

Reds in the Kitchen

So what do you think?

Should I keep the touches of red in the kitchen?
Would it be better with them ~
or boring without?

Taking votes from you Boring to Better Party goers!
and ...
What about it you Rednesday Party goers?

What's that Bentley ~you think it's okay to keep the fake chickens
but no real ones in the garden. Thanks for your
opinion Bentley!!

How Santa Got His Job!

If you are looking for a fun book to read
to little ones this Christmas ...

Try ~ How Santa Got His Job
by Stephen Krensky!
It's great fun for kids and I had several giggles too!

So brew up a cup of herbal tea or some cocoa ...
and snuggle up with a loved one
for some holiday fun!
Don't forget Rednesday!!

What's that Bentley? You like the part about how
Santa once worked in an all-night diner! It makes you
think about a midnight snack!

Susan and Bentley
