I found this Laura Ashley vase in an antique shop the other day.
I suppose this is considered an antique, but I remember very well
when my entire apartment (before I was married) was decorated
ala Laura Ashley.
I stenciled the walls of my bedroom and I made a cornice over my bed and
hung some of her mini print fabric. I had a white wicker headboard and the
room was ultra girly. The rest of my apartment was in duck egg blue with
more of her cute fabric everywhere. I painted the entire apartment
despite the fact that the lease said no. I changed out all of the builder's
grade lighting and the hardware on the kitchen and bathroom cabinets.
When I moved out, I told the landlord that I would change everything
back. To my surprise, he said no need because he had already
found a new tenant who wanted the apartment just the way it was.
Wow ~ did I ever luck out!
Well, I think this vase is quite happy on my studio hutch.
The colors just blend in perfectly.
Yes ~ it's my new favorite thing and it makes me
think of spring despite the fact that it is freezing cold here
today and I am getting really tired of having to wear
my down filled jacket every time I leave the house!
Happily Joining ~
Bentley is feeling quite smug after chasing away that
big raccoon from our yard the other night. Yes it's
true, my tiny little Bentley has a very big ego!
Big Hugs,
Susan and Bentley
I like your Laura Ashley and all your pink and floral items. Tell Bentley raccoons are dangerous!
ReplyDeleteOh so pretty and fresh looking ! Yes where the heck is spring ? certainly not here either temp wise either . Oh Bentley Miggs says Raccoons are really dangerous and it could turn on you with in the blink of an eye, I have known them to attack a large dog and do some life threatening damage and also humans they will turn on as well . My Mama and Papa don't let me chase them just for that reason but you are brave Bentley WOOFS to you ! Have a good day !
ReplyDeleteSusan, it's perfect. The colors in the vase are so pretty with your plates and stack of fabrics in the hutch. It was made to go in your home. I'm glad Bentley didn't catch the raccoon! laurie
ReplyDeleteLooks fresh, clean and......................darling!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Makes me cheery just looking at it... it is COLDDDDDD here too and I am waiting waiting waiting for SPRING....which is why I got out my pastel dishes to cheer me up too!
ReplyDeleteVery cheerful vase! I cannot yet consider Laura Ashley an antique because that would mean I'm getting older. I'm firmly in denial!
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely weekend!

HI Susan! What a lovely vase and it does look like it was made for your lovely studio! I remember my daughter had some Laura Ashley dresses that I thought were just so darling! Loved all her fabric and style. Good for little Bentley! He's such a brave little boy! Give him a hug from Chloe Dawn and me.

How pretty! I do love Laura Ashley. I live so far out in the boondocks that the only place I've seen her things for sale is in a shop in Seattle. Guess I have online though, huh... :) Good job, Bentley!

Susan, your Laura Ashley vase takes me back. I remember wearing Laura Ashley dresses and shopping in the London store. I've always loved the look. Your vase is perfect for your studio hutch. Glad this beauty found you. It belongs in your studio! ~ Sarah

Laura Ashley! Yes, a wonderful voice from the past!
ReplyDeleteHi Susan and Bentley, I love the vase and I went through everything made by Laura Ashley. Do you remember the blue and white bath accessories? I loved them. I think your vase makes a great addition to your studio. Beautiful, pink and white and the tiny little wicker set. Your studio is darling. I have to tell you I had my guest bedroom decked out with LA pink and white until we moved here. It was handed down for the my son and DIL’s house, guest bedroom where we sleep. They outgrew the color and gave it back to me. Do you believe after all that use it still looks great! Tell Bentley hello........
ReplyDeleteHappy Spring. It’s cold here too!!!!

The French Hutch
That is very pretty, Susan. It looks right at home on your gorgeous hutch. Deb
ReplyDeleteYour LA vase is so sweet. I know what you mean about decorating with LA. I have such fond memories of it. I was so disappointed when the business went downhill. Nice favorite thing.
ReplyDeleteYou know how much I love anything pink and your sweet comments.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Dottie
Your new vase looks just lovely with all of your pretties! Oh, I decorated my living room all LA in the green and blue berry years ago (since redecorated, but saved the fabric)and my Mom did her bedroom with the sweet pea. I still have the decorating books and love them.
ReplyDeleteSmall dogs have the bravest souls! xoxo
Susan- I love that vase. LOVE IT! Laura Ashley was such an inspiration to me when I first started decorating on my own. I loved everything in her collection and had touches of her throughout my first and 2nd house. She was an icon in our time....much like Rachel Ashwell today. She lent a soft romantic touch to everything and it was homey feeling. Oh- I could go on and on but I won't- xo Diana
ReplyDeleteVery pretty. I remember when Laura Ashley was all the rage. So pretty
ReplyDeleteHi Susan,

Beautiful post, Susan! I love your pretty studio, and also thank you for bringing back some lovely Laura Ashley memories! I used to use her fabrics and wllpaper everywhere years ago, and when I was at art college in the 70's we sometimes wore those romantic Laura Ashley milkmaid dresses :)

I love your vase. I used to have a lot of Laura Ashley, too. I think I am going on stike against this weather. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Your Laura Ashley vase is just perfect on your little hutch. Love all of the spring cheeriness. Although outside it is cold and blustery, we are having a sunny day today ~ finally, sun! Spring must be right around the corner. Please tell me it is ;-)
ReplyDeleteI love that LA vase...wow, an antique, already!! LOL! I love your hutch, it's so pretty and cheery, and floral, perfect for the spring colors..I'm sure weather in the USA will start to warm up. Thanks for your visit, honey and say hi to Bentley. Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

I love all of your pink things Susan and adore your new Laura Ashley vase! There used to be a LA shop in Los Angeles many many years ago and I loved it so much. Thank you for the sweet memories.
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend!
So many pretty pink floral things! I loved Laura Ashley, too! Do you remember the big leg-o-mutton sleeves on the dresses we wore? :-) Sigh... I still like those and wish they would come back in style. I know... I am so old fashioned!
ReplyDeletePretty Vase - thanks for sharing it with us. Nope - Laura Ashley is not antique, because I am NOT antique - yet! :-D
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by and nice comment on daughter's creations. I am right there with you - I can't crochet either. :D
Hope you are enjoying your Sunday.
You aren't going to believe this but, as soon as I saw the vase I though this is Laura Ashley. It goes great with the studio, thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteCynthia
I love that vase, Susan! It looks perfect on your shelf and is a lovely way to hold your brushes. I have a few Laura Ashley pieces (towels, a comforter, some shams, and two scarves) but I've never owned any dishware. This one is lovely!
