What Should I Make For Dinner Tonight?

Recently, my mind has been swimming with ideas for dinner.
Today, I have hit the wall.  No ideas at all.  I have been so
preoccupied with doctor's appointments that I haven't given
cooking a thought.  Well, I had my last appointment this afternoon,
and I won't have to go back for another three weeks.  Time to focus
on cooking again ... but what?

The pantry is a bit bare, and I need to order groceries again.
Now is a good time to pull out some recipes so that I can make
a list of what I need.  I wish Paula Deen would move next door
so that I get some help.  I watch her YouTube channel all the time,
not just for her recipes, but for entertainment too.  She always
has a big smile on her face and her cheerfulness is so contagious!

Maybe I'll make some sautéed chicken, country green beans, garlic mashed
potatoes and buttermilk biscuits for dinner.  I think that Paula just jumped
into my head and gave me that inspiration!  Thank you Paula!!

Big Texas Hugs,
Susan and Oliver

  1. Your dinner idea sounds tasty. Here lately first I have trouble getting inspired to figure out what I will want to be cooking for the week so I can put it on the grocery list, and then during the week there are often times that I think "What in the world was I thinking when I thought this or that item would be good for dinner, a lot of days I am not in the mood for certain foods, or I don't want to take the time to cook whatever it is, or it is too hot to cook the dish I had planned on having. I'm in a bit of a cooking rut because we don't do even takeout food yet, so it's been my cooking for months now. I'm tired of everything I make. I remind myself to be thankful that we are able to get a nice variety of things to prepare even with the way things are now. I think part of the problem is that it just recently turned hot around here, so I have to remember to take into account how hot whatever I make is going to cause the house to get.

Does your little Oliver "help" you cook?

    1. I can relate to everything you said! Sometimes it's hard to be inspired, and other times the menu ideas are flowing. It's hot here too now. Salad days.

  2. I had to stop at the grocery on my way home -they had a new brand of flatbread pizza with organic cheese and uncured meats. I paired it with a romaine salad. The last 2 nights we had my keto chili with a keto coconut cream pie. Jambalaya will appear sometime on the weekend. We do not do takeout or dine out either yet. I am furloughed so I can cook.

  3. Your dinner sounds delicious. I don't feel too inspired for creative cooking for just me, but I do manage to get something on the table. xo Laura

    1. If it were just me, there would be lots of fish, scrambled eggs and toast.

  4. I love your kitchen island. It looks so pretty in your kitchen. I know exactly how you feel about dinner, I have tons of ingredients, but no dinners. Weird how that happens. Your suggestion of sauteed chicken sounds great, I might do the same. Have a wonderful and healthy weekend!

    1. Isn't it amazing how you can go shopping and bring home all kinds of things and then want to order out?

  5. Susan, I share some really great recipes on my YouTube channel. I only post it if I think it is the very best recipe for that particular dish that I've ever tasted. If you click on "Show More" under the video, it will open up the entire recipe for you. I hope you find some that you're tempted to try. Youtube.com/katzcradul

    1. Being in another country does make it a bit more difficult, but we can always pretend, lol!
