In the Mood for Love

After twenty five plus years of marriage, my husband is still my
favorite Valentine.

Not to worry Bentley ~ you are still my puppy Valentine!

Calico and Cows

Of course y'all have seen my hutch in the breakfast room many times,
but look closely and I will show you a few new additions.

On the top shelf is a new cow creamer.  Not just any cow, but a calico cow.
I have always had a soft spot for calico.

Here is a closer look.  Isn't she cute?

Here's her baby on the second shelf.  No calico markings yet, but we
are hopeful ;-)

Now if you notice some new things down here on the bottom shelf you
are correct.  Four little calico espresso cups hanging from hooks.

Are they not precious?

And some calico appetizer plates.  Did you notice the cute little Caspari
paper beverage napkins to compliment the plates?

My hutch is very happy and I am too!  I found all these things at one of my
very favorite kitchen shops ~ Sur La Table.  I went to the one in Sugar Land, TX
but I miss the one I used to go to in Seattle right by the public market.

That's all for today.  Bentley and I have been dreaming and scheming up
new vignettes and fluffing the cottage.  We will be sharing it all with you!

Crafty Hearts

This past Christmas I put up a little white tree in my studio and decorated
it with vintage pink ornaments and white lights.  I enjoyed the tree so
much that I felt sad about taking it down.

So instead of taking down the whole tree, I just took off the Christmas
ornaments and decided I would put hearts on the tree for Valentine's Day.
I started making little fabric hearts and then as usual my muse entered
the scene and the next thing I knew, sewing notions were being added
as well.

It all seemed appropriate for my studio.

Tape measures, baby rick rack, buttons and pin cushions are
now decorations on the branches.

Familiar things used in a different way.

Paper doilies have been tweaked.

With a vintage Valentine card as a tree topper.
Frivolous fun!

Bentley has decided he is a cat.  He brought in a dead bird from
the garden this afternoon.  I had a hard time getting it away from
him.  Made me feel sad too.

A Hot Beauty Tip!

Forget the low carb, gluten free, Paleo or diet of the month.
This is the real secret ~

Southern Cookin' Makes You Good Lookin'

When I saw this cute little towel from Sweet Magnolias Farm on etsy, I
just knew it needed to be hanging in my kitchen.  I received it very promptly in
a brown paper package tied up with string and a Ghirardelli chocolate square too.
What could be sweeter?

So now here it is hanging on the handle of my oven door.
Makes me want some biscuits and gravy!

Valentine Breakfast Tray

Mom had a vintage wicker tray that was brown and had an old decal on it.
I loved the "bones" of the tray but knew it could be a little fresher.  So I
painted the wicker and the base and decoupaged cut squares of
scrapbook paper to resemble a quilt.

Then I added some daisies, some cute dishes and two felt Valentines
that I made several years ago.

These colors make me think of spring.  It was like spring here yesterday and
then a cold wind moved in last night and it's back to sweater weather.

Where ever you are and where ever you live, I hope it's a happy
Monday for you!

Bentley had a tough couple of days.  He sprained his back leg
jumping off our bed and he took lots of naps and had lots of
massages.  He is back to feeling very good now.  That makes
me so happy.  I am miserable when he's not feeling well.
I love you Bentley!
