Bentley's New Girl Friend

Here she is ~ Daisy!  

Isn't she the cutest little girl?  She is a Maltese puppy and her Momma is my

groomer Tina.  Tina brought her by yesterday and I spent some time with 

this sweet girl while Bentley was being groomed.   She is so precious!!

It was a lovely warm and sunny morning on the porch so I set up a cozy bed

for Daisy with a pink and white quilt, a pillow and a teddy bear for her to

snuggle up to.  Because ~ after we played for a while she started to get sleepy.

Puppies do so much napping and she was soon sound asleep.  I just sat by her 

while drinking my tea.  She and Bentley will have so much fun playing 

together in the future.    Bentley is already smitten!

Bentley the Hunter

Here's Bentley

Look at that sweet face,

But ...

Don't let that sweet face fool you!

He is always on the lookout ...

Even while on a bicycle ride with his Mama,

He is busy looking for invaders to his territory.

He's looking in the garden to the left and to the right.

Even while wearing Mardi Gras beads ~ he is on the lookout.

Sadly, Bentley caught his first squirrel today. The squirrel had

a broken leg and Bentley caught him as he was sliding down a tree

in our yard.  In a way, it was a blessing because the squirrel would

have died a long painful death.  

But I still felt sad, so I read 

 "Squirrel Nutkin" by Beatrix Potter to 

Bentley and explained that the sweet little squirrel

is now in squirrel heaven.  

When his Daddy came home from work he said ~

"Good boy".  Then gave him a treat.

I just don't get that macho mystique!

And I think that Bentley feels very proud of himself!

How can I undo years of terrier breeding??

Remedies for the Flu

I started to feel ill yesterday afternoon.

By the time I got home there was no doubt in my mind ...

I had the flu!

What are the remedies for the flu?

David picked up some Won Ton soup from our

local Chinese restaurant. It doesn't cure the flu

but I felt better temporarily.

Lots of cups of hot tea with lemon and honey.

Works for a while, but I still feel sick.

Old movies.

I have been in bed watching ...

Mr Blandings Builds His Dream House ~

I think about decorating and home construction

even when I am sick.

You've Got Mail ~ how many times have I watched

that movie???

But my favorite remedy is Bentley!

He stares very closely at my face

Gives me four or five kisses on my cheek

and then cuddles up very close.

Works every time!!

Bentley's Inside Day

Bentley, I know you want to go outside and play in your yard

but the snow is still quite deep. You have to stay on the path

and I know that's not much fun.

Bentley's Bath

My Momma just gave me a bath ~ I didn't like it very much!! I hope I don't have to have another one for a very, very long time!! That's all ... I think I'm getting a treat now.

Mini Blogging Break

Arf!! Bentley here. Mama and I are taking a short blogging break. We'll be back in a day or two. In the meantime, I am not supposed to chase Thelma if she shows up in the garden again!! I think I'll just take a nap snuggled in my cozy quilt. I wonder if it's okay if I just dream about chasing chickens???

Bentley to the Rescue!

Momma found another "trash to treasure" project, she was dumpster diving again. Here I am checking it out. What's that Momma?? We need to make a quick trip to Home Depot?? Can I drive??

Oh these Sunday drivers!!

And another red light! By the way ... I am completely ignoring you about needing a good brushing and a bath.

Maybe we can make a stop at Grandma's on the way home. She always has treaties for me!!

Bentley's Tips To Keep You in the Pink!!

What helps give Bentley the energy to play hard all day chasing squirrels, playing with his toys and keeping the cottage safe?? Let's ask him ... Bentley what keeps you "in the pink"?

Bentley says, " Its my Just a Wee Bit dog food in the pink bag. It's made from yummy bison and it gives me lots of energy to run and play hard every day!!"

"I think mom gives me vitamins too." Okay thanks Bentley. So there you have it. Bentley stays in the pink by getting good nutrition from a pink bag of dog food. Okay Bentley, that's a wrap. You can go back to playing with your "mini me"!

Bentley's Vintage Thingie

Bentley and I are out in the garden this morning when suddenly I find Bentley with an old toy. "Mom is this vintage?" Well, let's see Bentley, it's an old squeek toy that belonged to Bitterman many years ago while the first George Bush was in office.

Dan Quayle is on his shoulder. Bitterman chewed off the nose long ago. (This is not a political commentary, just a fact). That was one of Bitterman's favorite toys when he was a puppy, and that was over 20 years ago, so yes, I think it's vintage.

Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme

Good Morning! I thought I'd join Cielo at House in the Roses to show off a corner of my herb garden off the back porch for "Show Off Your Cottage Monday". It's a beautiful morning. Very quiet, except for the birds singing and the chickens next door clucking and scratching. Where's Bentley???

He's over in the ground cover next to the fence listening to Beatrice, Florence, Thelma and Louise, our chicken neighbors. While we are enjoying our gardens, the folks down in the gulf region are worried about the oil spill.
