Mountain Greenery

We are all very excited here at Ash Tree Cottage!
We have a signed offer and in two weeks we will be closing on
our lot up in New Meadows.

Our lot is up in this lovely mountain area about 2 hours from
our cottage in the city.  We have been coming up here for over ten years now and
our close friends have been so generous to let us stay in their lovely cabin often.

We are looking at plans and dreaming of what we want to build.
There are some lovely homes up there like this one.  I am partial to
post and beam.

Bentley ~ are you looking
at the house, or are you searching for chipmunks?

We'll also be deciding on a name for our retreat.
Should we call it Ash Tree Cottage North or
Lagniappe North? The latter will be David's choice.

David is looking forward to playing lots of golf on this course.  This is the
14th green.

We won't start building until next spring because up in the mountains the
snow starts flying early and lasts for months.  This pic was taken just around
the corner from our lot.

I think we will need a snow blower!

Bentley ~ where did you disappear to?  Are you hiding behind that snow drift?

Hugs,
Susan and Bentley

Bentley and I Love Snow!!!

It's snowing today!! It's not sticking very well down here in the valley ~ but hopefully the mountains will be covered in a thick layer of snow. Bentley loves the snow and so do I. Soon we will be ready for skiing, sledding and cuddling by the fire with a cup of hot chocolate on a snowy day. This is how it looks up in the mountains of Idaho in the winter ~ just lovely!!! Bentley looks so tiny compared to towering ponderosa pines dusted with snow and huge snow banks.

Bentley ~ it's time to pull out your sweaters.

Love,
Susan and Bentley

Wild West Barn Chick

Howdy Barn Chicks! Welcome to the wild, wild west and the beautiful mountains of Idaho!! Grab yourself a saddle ...

Or a cowgirl hat and an apron ...

Rustle up a cow ...

Or a cowboy ...

and find that missing calf hiding behind the ponderosa pine.

When you are finished with your chores, head back east to visit Karen at Brayton Homestead Interiors for the 4th meeting of the Barn Chicks.

Bentley, stop barking at the calf. She'll never come out from hiding!!

Love,
Susan and Bentley
