Three Tiered Easter Basket

I could not resist using the three tiered basket I found last fall
for this year's Easter basket.  I gave it a coat of white paint.

I filled the top tier with wheat grass and pansies.

More pansies and chocolate bunnies on the second tier.

A vintage Easter post card too.

And a big bunny and more chocolate and chicks on the bottom.
I think I will take this over to my Mom's sunroom since we will be
having dinner at her house this year.  Spending time with my family
is my favorite thing!

Very Happy Easter!

What's Up With The Peeps???

Danger, danger ~ this is an emergency!
Susan and Bentley are on the hunt for peeps to put in the
Easter Sunday centerpiece.

Run!
Hide!
Before it's too late!

Oh dear.  Where to hide?

It's too late now.  The chocolate eggs are arriving.

Oh dear.  We are doomed to be centerpiece history!

Now the chocolate bunnies are invading.

And a vintage lamb too!

Now who is this?  I have heard that he is the construction
supervisor.  He's some big head honcho from back east.
We chickies need to be more careful.  Remember the last
year and the ...

that didn't end very well at all!

Bentley ~ I have no idea why these peeps are so upset.
After all, it's not every day when they get to be up front
and center on the dining room table.  Bentley ~ now tell all
of our blogging friends to tune in tomorrow for the big reveal!

While under construction, we will be happily joining ~

Thrift Shop Charger Decorated For Easter

I started to think about our Easter tablescape when I decided that
I did not want to use any of my chargers and thought ...
why not create my own?

Last year I bought these wooden chargers to complement a woodland theme
table.  Suddenly I thought ~ why not paint them?  If you ask my husband
he will tell you that I paint everything else ;-)  And since they were only 25 cents a piece
it's no big loss if I paint them.

So I did.  I sprayed them off white.  Sanded them a bit and pulled out some
craft paints to decorate the chargers for Easter.  You certainly could paint any
designs you want.  This would be fun to do with kids so that each one
has their very own personalized charger.

There you have it.  Another thrift shop revamp.
Now on to more decorations.  I'll see you with those
creations later this week.  Until them I am ...

Okay Bentley ~ We need to start working on a centerpiece.
I have some ideas so come out to the potting shed with me

Last Minute Easter Decorating Ideas For You

Easter is early this year.  It was only last Sunday that we celebrated
St Patrick's Day.  I don't know about y'all, but I am running behind.
So while I look through some decorating ideas I thought I would
share them with you.

So to put you in the mood, put on your Easter bonnet and
let's get started.

We need Easter eggs of course.

For centerpieces, wreaths and baskets of course.

Aww ~ sweet!

We need yummy desserts of course

How cute is this???

Peeps have certainly become a big part of the Easter landscape.

These are so adorable!

And bunnies of course.  We must have lots of bunnies!

In all shapes and forms.

And always the little ones.

I hope that I have given those of you (like me) who are
behind in their decorating, some ideas to inspire.  Now
go forth and be creative!

The Very Newest Addition to My Studio

I found this Laura Ashley vase in an antique shop the other day.
I suppose this is considered an antique, but I remember very well
when my entire apartment (before I was married) was decorated
ala Laura Ashley.

I stenciled the walls of my bedroom and I made a cornice over my bed and
hung some of her mini print fabric.  I had a white wicker headboard and the
room was ultra girly.  The rest of my apartment was in duck egg blue with
more of her cute fabric everywhere.  I painted the entire apartment
despite the fact that the lease said no.  I changed out all of the builder's
grade lighting and the hardware on the kitchen and bathroom cabinets.
When I moved out, I told the landlord that I would change everything
back.  To my surprise, he said no need because he had already
found a new tenant who wanted the apartment just the way it was.
Wow ~ did I ever luck out!

Well, I think this vase is quite happy on my studio hutch.

The colors just blend in perfectly.
Yes ~ it's my new favorite thing and it makes me
think of spring despite the fact that it is freezing cold here
today and I am getting really tired of having to wear
my down filled jacket every time I leave the house!

Bentley is feeling quite smug after chasing away that
big raccoon from our yard the other night.  Yes it's
true, my tiny little Bentley has a very big ego!

A Cozy Afternoon in My Cottage

The weather is terrible.  Cold, windy, blustery stay in the house and get
really cozy kind of weather.  Where is spring anyway?  I decided to stay in
and nest this afternoon.  So I made up a tray with a pot of tea and a sandwich
and my newest book/magazine "Cottage Style".

I really need to unwind.  I started breaking out in eczema yesterday.
That often happens when I have been living with a lot of stress.
Hopefully it will disappear soon because it is most uncomfortable.

Nothing quite like a peanut butter and blackberry jam
sandwich on toasted whole wheat to feel all cozy inside.

I found this Rose Chintz dinner plate at an antique shop and the
owner told me where I could purchase quite a few more pieces
at really great prices.  You and I both know that I do not need any
more dishes.  However, I love this pattern.  So while I certainly
don't need more china~ I certainly do want more of this!

I bought a couple of new fat quarters recently.
Such happy prints.

I am re~reading Savannah Breeze.  I love Mary Kay Andrews.
She is such a fun author.  Have you ever seen her adorable beach
cottage on Tybee Island?  Here is a link to some pics.

So there you have it.  A cozy afternoon in my cottage.
It's a good thing.

Bentley chased a big old raccoon off our deck at 1:00 am this

Shabby Windows into Chic Greenhouse

Two of my antique loving friends created this adorable greenhouse out of
five vintage and shabby windows.

It's full of all things charming.

Vintage cement and clay pots.

Wire garden accessories and old tools.

Rusty rakes.

And old watering cans.
I want to make one too.  I already have one old
chippy window.  Now I only need 4 more!

Happily Joining ~

It's a typical Monday for Bentley.  He had a very busy
weekend and today he is feeling quite lazy.  I expect him to be
completely rested by dinner time when he puts on his
nightly toy tossing show for us.
