Transformed Cabinet on the Back Porch

This Monday I am joining Susan's Metamorphosis Monday over at her lovely blog Between Naps on the Porch, Rhoda at Southern Hospitality for Today's Thrifty Treasures and Cielo for Show Off Your Cottage at her blog The House in the Roses. Here is a little cabinet I found at a thrift shop. I liked it because of it's shutter doors.

It's really a simple little piece that has a few shelves inside. I thought it might make a nice cabinet to store fabric stashes for quilting. Today I decided to give it a shabby chic finish, so I took it outside to paint.

Bentley usually follows me where ever I go, so of course he had to investigate. He brought his "mini me" along. "No Bentley, there are no treats in this cabinet".

I gave it a light coat of white paint and changed the knobs to glass ones.

I hung it up on my back porch and here is a peak inside ... to the left and ...

to the right.

Now I have a place to store fat quarters and a couple of jars with buttons and thread and some fabric trim too. I have room to keep a small sewing basket on top and an antique spool holder on top.

Thank you for visiting me today. Don't forget to stop by and visit Susan, Rhoda and Cielo too for great thrifty transformations in charming cottages!!

Love,
Susan and Bentley
xxoo

  17. I'm a new follower via Southern Hospitality. What is it that is always so charming about shutters? We have several throughout our house, too. Our favorite rustic ones flank a very formal picture of Marie Antionette over our fireplace and really is a show stopper when you enter the room. I also really like the glass knobs you added...almost jewelry-like. Nice redo!
