Wow ~ it's September 1st already!! Autumn is a favorite season of mine. Sweater weather. Warm sunny afternoons. Leaves beginning to turn color and the start of a new school year. So for this Rednesday I have a little vignette consisting of a red framed blackboard, a plaid covered box and a cute little red school bag. This red bag was made for the American Girl Doll, Molly McIntire. Her era is the 1940's. Love that time period!!
So many great movies were filmed in the 1940's. Lot's of great big band music and lots of red accessories too. This is the cutest little red school bag. It even has a mini 3 ring binder, school ruled paper, a pencil case with 2 red pencils and an little pink eraser. There is a language book. It's a miniature textbook reproduction of a book copyrighted 1941. Molly's report card is in the bag and there are some flash cards too. Too cute!!
I hope that everyone has a great first day of September. Don't forget to go visit Sue for some more reds on this Rednesday!!
Bentley wants you to know that one of his favorite toys is a little red fire truck. Of course half of it has been chewed off, but he loves it just the same. Isn't that right Bentley?
Love,
Susan and Bentley

Hi Susan,
ReplyDeleteI always wanted an American Girl, sadly she came along after I was grown and having my own children...boys, 3 of them! So, I've had to live through my nieces. :o)
Thanks for sharing some great accessories.
Fondly,
Ann

Such precious memories of school days...
ReplyDeleteMy little scotch plaid school satchel was my favorite, it too had lots of red in the pattern.
Sweet reminders !
I love you little vignette Susan! That school sachel is adorable. I'm gonna have to get my Scotch Plaid out for a photo session. I love the fall plaids and corduroy.I bet you look adorable in your little fall sweaters Bentley;)
ReplyDeleteI truly try to forget them since they were in the 1940s, honey!

Red plaid is my absolute favorite!! Love it! And I love that chalkboard...too cute! We homeschool and I have been thinking of something we could transform into a chalkboard as a craft for the girls.. I think it would be fun!

Cute vignette! I love the blackboard!
ReplyDeleteSusan,
ReplyDeleteLove your "back to school" things. I just know if we had known each other in school, we for certain would have been calling each other to see what outfit we were wearing for the first day of school! :)
Cute school things. I agree on the 40's era. I would have been very happy growing up during that time. Happy Reds!
ReplyDeleteI used to love going back to school and getting all the new clothes and the school items!! I adore Fall and I LOVE sweater weather too!!
ReplyDeleteSunny but with a bit of a crisp feel in the air!! Heaven!!
Debbie
Great red school day memories. It may be September, but still hot here. Trust fall will hurry and arrive.
ReplyDeleteAdorable little backpack. I had 3 daughters. Not one of them wanted an American Girl doll. Strange. Mimi
ReplyDeleteOh, I love that school satchel. It reminds me of French films with little schoolgirls walking down the street. Have a wonderful day.

The vignette is so cute. My granddaughters have what they call "smartboards". I think the chalkboard days are becoming a thing of the past.

Such a cute post, Susan! The first day of school was always exciting and sad for me. Sad because summer was over, but exciting because I got to see all the friends I had missed over the summer!
ReplyDeleteHappy REDnesday!
Carol

ReplyDeleteVery cute Reds this week. I'm really liking the chalkboard. Great post for the back to school crowd. Thanks for sharing.

ReplyDeleteGod Bless You ~Ron
what cute items for rednesday! i love autumn too!
ReplyDeleteOh this is so cute! You almost make me happy to be back in school! :) I tried to talk my daughter into collecting either Kit or Molly but she went for Julie - which is quite upsetting because Julie is EXACTLY MY AGE IN REAL LIFE! Funny, I don't feel like a historical doll. Maybe I should collect Molly, she's even older than my mom.
ReplyDeletelove the red school stuff- cannot wait to see your Barn Chick post on Friday- come by and link up!
