Vintage Linen Pillow Craft

A couple of weeks ago, my sister-in-law Cindy went to an estate sale near
her home in Lago Vista, Texas.  She sent me a text and said that she spotted some
vintage linens I might like and asked me if I wanted her to go back and pick
some up for me.  She sent me some pics and I said oh yes please do!

Last Friday I received the package of linens from Cindy.  One of the
embroidered hand towels was this one.  I just knew instantly that I had the
right fabric to compliment the stitches.  Of course I had to embellish it
a bit more with some buttons and rick rack I already had.

I used this gold and white striped fabric from an old Ralph Lauren pillow
case that I love.  It just seemed like the perfect compliment to the lovely
embroidered stitches of the towel.

Thank you Cindy!  There are a few other vintage towels from her
haul and I am thinking about what I will do with them.  By the way,
Cindy just became a grandmother for the fourth time this weekend.
Baby Tucker was born on Saturday to daughter Julie and Jeremy.  Julie was
just a little girl when David and I were married.  Now she has her own little
girl ~ Anna ~ and now also a boy named Tucker.  It's a very exciting time
for everyone in Houston and the very first boy in their family of lots of girls.
One of these days I will have to get Cindy to send me some pictures of
the beautiful dresses she has made for her daughters and granddaughters
(and their dolls too) over the years.  She is a very talented seamstress.

Hope y'all have a great Monday!

Big Texas Hugs,
Susan and Bentley

    1. We are so happy for everyone ~ especially for Brian ( Cindy's husband). He has been living in a sea of girls for many years and now has a grandson. I don't think Tucker will be very spoiled ;-)

  12. Just beautiful and exactly the sort of thing Ilove! What a great find and how nice of her buy and send them to you! Congratulations to her family on the new little one. It's always such an event. I'm still looking for a watering can like the red one on the counter in your header! I doubt another like that exists. It's just perfect! Hi Bently! Long time no see! (that was from Mele. :)

    1. Hi Mona and Mele! I bought that watering can at Hobby Lobby. Try their website if you can't find one at the store. Bentley sends puppy kisses to Mele.

  13. Oh Susan, it's absolutely lovely. Please consider doing a tutorial. I would love to make one like that. I have a box of vintage fabric scraps that my dear sister, Cheryl sent me many years ago from Cape Cod & I'd love to make a pillow like yours out of some of the scraps. My sister passed away in 2005 & I love to have things around me that make me feel like she's close by.

    1. I think you should make a pillow or something that you could keep close from fabric that belonged to your sister. Next time I make something I will consider doing a tutorial. I tend to just dream something up and run with it.

    1. So happy you stopped by! Cindy is a great seamstress. She has been sewing since she was a teen. I am going to ask her to send me some pics of dresses she has created for her daughters and granddaughters over the years. Just darling! At her house in Houston she has one whole closet full of dresses and accessories for her girls to play dress up. Such fun!
