I have always loved ballet. The music. The lithe graceful bodies of the dancers
The soft pinks of the shoes, tights and tutus. It is all so ethereal.
When I put on my leotard, tights and those petal pink shoes to exercise with
the New York City Ballet dancers several times per week ~ I am transformed.
As I practice my plies, tendu and grand battement my mind is consumed by
the beauty and grace of the ballet. For about 50 minutes I am living the life
of a ballerina.
It's a wonderful workout too!
Often while on a street corner waiting for the light to change, I catch
myself practicing my turnout. A ballerina lives in my soul and always will.
Bentley does not understand my dedication to the NYC Ballet Workout.
He tries his best to distract me by tossing his toys in the air and
standing on my tummy when I do the abdominal workout. It's actually
quite funny!
Hugs,
Susan and Bentley
I always thought ballerinas were the sheer essence of elegance. And to be so long on their tippy toes!

Good for you...no tights for me!
ReplyDeleteThe ballerina reminds of the one in my childhood jewelry box
I dreamed of being a ballerina! I bet that workout is awesome!
ReplyDeleteBentley, Cocoa and Theo are all in the same boat when it comes to their Momma's working out. Somehow they think "downward dog" somehow involves them in my Yoga workouts??? They think my mat is a new place for them to lay...

Me
Bentley, Cocoa and Theo will make quite a team when we get them all together!

ReplyDeleteHow wonderful you still dance I think most adults lose that as they get older.

Susan, I always dreamed of being a ballerina. I remember donning my crinoline and dancing on my tippy-toes when I was a little girl. Loved soft pink then and I still love it! Happy Pink Saturday and thanks for the smiles.

We finally got a Texas RoadHouse restaurant in our town, sugar!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you look like a ballerina with all the workouts also. A frustrated Ballerina?! ;-)

After breaking my foot dancing on point shoes, I gave up ballet over 20 years ago. But last year I found an adult ballet class and now dance with my 16 year old daughter. What fun! Thank you for this lovely post, my fellow dancer.
ReplyDeleteI always wanted to dance...but, I got piano lessons instead. My mom was a music major at the U of Iowa and somehow that is what she thought was best for me....maybe she was right. I studied classical piano for eight years, but my heart always longed to dance.
ReplyDeleteI think it is wonderful you are keeping the dream alive and keeping healthy, too!
♥ Jil
That is one thing I could never do, young or old. I have always been awe how they do it and still look so graceful.
ReplyDeleteI was watching something on tv the other day where the person was talking about just because your dream didn't come true, it doesn't mean the whole dream has to die. Looks like you are still living your dream of being a ballerina, just in a different way. Best of all, no matter how you do, you'll still having a loving audience with Bentley around.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog today. Have a great weekend!
Happy Pink Saturday, Susan and Bentley! What a charming story! Sweet post! Bentley sounds like a darling! Huge fan of ballet!
ReplyDeleteHope you and Bentley get a moment to stop by and visit!
Have a lovely (pink) weekend!

Susan, What a lovely dream - who doesn't want to be a ballerina! I just love the little doll. Happy Pink Saturday. ~Marti
ReplyDeleteOh my, I too love Ballerina! I took dance as a little girl and then the decision was made that I had grown too tall for gymnastics and ballet. Giggle! Anyhoo, pink tutus are always in my heart! Big beautiful hugs,

I went to The Capitol Theatre and saw a performance with Ballerina's dancing and thought it would be so amazing to be able to dance like them. I think it's wonderful that you can dance like that. I wish I was that co-ordinated. Thanks for sharing! Have a wonderful weekend!
