Happy Labor Day everyone!
I have a quick question for y'all. Do you follow the old fashion rule of
No white after Labor Day
Or do you ignore it now?
Just wondering. I will be spending some quality time with my
dear hubby. He works hard all week, and we are just going to
spend some fun time together today. So no projects, no
blogging parties. We will return to that schedule tomorrow.
On a sad note ~ one of our fellow bloggers has passed away.
Ceekay of Thinkin of Home left us to be with Our Lord
yesterday. She fought a brave 9 year battle with ovarian
cancer and will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
May she rest in peace.
Big Texas Hugs,
Susan and Bentley
Sad to hear about Ceekay, she was a sweetie. I don't pay too much attention to the rule, just a bit.
ReplyDeleteCheeky will be missed. I am still on the fence about the no white after Labor Day rule. Thanks for your input.
DeleteOh so sorry to hear this. .I don't wear white but only because I don't want to looked at like I didn't get the memo. I personally think in the south it should be okay. The warm weather allows us to continue to wear our shorts and cropped pants and flip flops. Why not white?
ReplyDeleteIf I wear white I am afraid I will hear my Mom's voice whispering in my ear saying no ;-)
DeleteI am sorry to hear about Ceekay! But thanks for alerting us. I don't wear white shoes or white pants after Labor Day, but I DO occasionally wear white jeans with fall/transitional colors.
ReplyDeleteI do wear winter white, just not white shoes :-)
DeleteSo sorry to hear about Ceekay, she was so brave and such a sweetie!!!
ReplyDeleteI wear what I want, when I want........it's in the 90's here, and I will wear my white capris and white sandals until its too cold!!! Silly rules for silly people!!!
Yes, Ceekay was a very sweet person. She will be missed by so many. Seems like year 'round whites are winning out.
DeleteI'm so, so sorry to hear of Ceekay's passing.
ReplyDeleteI don't pay attention to those rules. Never have!

LOL- Old school here- I don't wear pure white shoes, purses, etc. after Labor Day. I will wear "winter white" though.
ReplyDeleteWhen I lived in FL I pretty much ignored that rule. xo Diana
You and I are in the minority here. No pure white for me either, but like you I do wear winter white. The two of us will just have to hold down the "old school fort" ;-)
DeleteForgot to add that I am so very sorry about Ceekay. It is hard to believe she is gone-she fought so long and hard and I guess I just kept thinking that she would keep fighting and beat the darn thing. So sad- xo Diana
ReplyDeleteI kept thinking she would beat it too. Sad that she is gone :-(
DeleteI didn't know about Ceekay. It saddens me very much to know she is gone. I thought of her yesterday and checked her blog to see why she hadn't blogged in a while and I saw that her last post was a few months ago. She will be sorely missed by all her blogging buddies who knew of her struggle.
ReplyDeleteI think white can be worn all year round.
hugs
Sissie
I thought of her this weekend too. Didn't realize exactly why she was on my mind until Cindy Olson posted about her passing this morning.
DeleteOh yes, the No White After Labor Day is so deeply ingrained in me. I just wouldn't feel right! Child of the 50's and Southern (Texan) too--that says it all!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you and Nana Diana too. While I realize the attitude about dress is very loose and easy today, I am very traditional. I enjoy reserving certain things for certain occasions, events, etc. For example, if I wore my white sandals all year round, they would not be very special. Now when I wear them for summer they are special and I look forward to seeing them again. I don't expect everyone to agree with me, but it's just the way I am.
DeleteAbsolutely no white after Labor Day for me!!! I cringe when I see some people wear white, but I get over it quickly...LOL!!!
