French Cabinet Lined in Toile

My Mom had this French Country Cabinet.  I wanted to keep it because
it was a favorite of hers, but I wanted to tweak it a bit to reflect a bit
more of my personality.  As y'all probably know by now, I love the color
red and you see it in much of my house.  So I painted the cabinet
inside and out with Annie Sloan's Old White, and lined the back
wall of the cabinet with a red toile fabric.

This cabinet has many pieces that belonged to my Mom that she
in turn inherited from my Grandmother.

I am a very sentimental person and like to have things around me that
remind me of the ones I am missing.  So now these things have a
new home.

My Mom collected demitasse cups and my Grandmother liked
these little angels.

So here you have it.  This week's tweak.  Thanks for stopping by
and I hope to see y'all again soon!

Okay Bentley now let's go over this again.  If you see a
possum in the yard, leave it alone!  Possums can be
agressive and you don't have to prove anything.
Snakes are a no, no too.  I know you think that you
are tough but your mama wants you to be safe.

Big Texas Hugs,
Susan and Bentley

  1. You did a nice job, Susan. I like the toile background. You will enjoy having this piece to showcase these family treasures.

  3. You have made it really pretty. A great place to keep your treasures.

  6. Susan, it looks exquisite! I love toile and I just love the way it turned out, oh so lovely!
A big Texas good evening and hugs to you and Bentley~

  7. How pretty and what a nice reminder of your Mother.

  8. I love the cabinet painted and with the toile back it's terrific. I also love red and have it in all of my rooms. I have been wanting to paint my hutch in Annie Sloan chalk paint in red and I think toile in the back would look so good. Many thanks for this great idea.
You and Bentley have a great week.

  9. The cabinet is lovely, especially filled with things that hold precious memories. Well done with the lining in the back!

  10. Just beautiful! Love toile and it looks wonderful in your cabinet. Thanks so much for sharing at Amaze Me Monday!

  11. Love the toile and the cabinet is fabulous. Thanks tons for linking to Inspire Me.
