Yesterday I did something I have never done before ~ I baked my
very first loaf of banana bread ever! That's right friends, I never did
this before. I have always loved to cook, but just never became a
baker. My Mama was a wonderful baker, and both of my
Grammies were too. What happened to me??? I baked
cookies at Christmas time, but that was all.
So I decided to use this stay at home time to learn new
things. Baking was on my bucket list. Guess what ~ the
bread tastes delicious and now I am hooked. I just hope that
my HEB has plenty of flour because now I am on a roll!
What have you been doing recently that perhaps you never
did before?
Love,
Susan and Oliver
I was just thinking I would bake a loaf of banana bread this week. It's one of my favorites. Can't really think of anything new I've been doing. I did go to the grocery today for the first time in over eight weeks. xo Laura
ReplyDeleteThat's wonderful! Did it feel good to go there?
DeleteBaked some last week -eaten up quickly at our home. Used the Betty Crocker recipe I have had for 40+ years.
ReplyDeleteIt's so yummy! I am glad I finally tried it. My hubby was thrilled. Next loaf I am adding walnuts per his request.
DeleteI LOVE banana bread and bake it or muffins all the time, as almost always have bananas that are overripe. I have to bake with gluten free flours but have perfected my recipe over the years. I love baking quick breads, muffins and cookies, all gluten free! My newest attempt was to try my hand at dehydrating banana chips... in the oven. Found a YouTube video that did it so I followed along. Was kind of time consumming so don't know if I'll do it again, but from 5 bananas I came out with a smallish bowl of crisp banana chips. I did eat them all, liked them, but they did did totally dry out and become crispy. I don't know how long they would have "kept" as I just stored them in a plastic tub in my cupboard, but they got eaten before I had to find that out! But probably won't do it again! Took a good 24 hours for them to dry totally after they came out of the oven. I also made some gluten free/buckwheat waffles that I haven't done for YEARS and YEARS! Were pretty good but a little too solid for me and hubby! Have fun baking! Marilyn
ReplyDeleteIt's so much fun to pull out old beloved recipes! I have noticed that during this "stay home" time, I am really longing for old fashioned comfort foods. Thanks for stopping by and happy baking!
