Halloween Cancelled

I had planned a big post today and would have joined a few parties as
well to show off some of the spectacular Halloween decorations in
my neighborhood.

But after hearing about all the devastation and loss of lives in the
northeast, it seemed like a frivolous thing to do.

Lives lost.  Homes lost.  So many without power.

There will be another Halloween next year.  Right now all I want to do
is be thankful for my family and my little cottage and pray for those who
who have suffered this tragedy.

Love,
Susan and Bentley

PS:  This last pic is not of my house.  I took it last year of one in my
neighborhood.  They repeat this every year.

  1. Thank you, Susan. It amazes me how many bloggers, while showing their latest purchase or new pillow added or whatever floofing they just did, did not even give the East Coast a shout out. I can't be bothered to read these posts. But I enjoyed your photos very much. xo

  2. Very tragic happenings out east. I am thankful for our safety. So many have not had our good fortune. I do love the house with all the pumpkins :0

  3. You did the right thing, Susan. Too much chaos right now to pretend everything is fine with all of us. Personally, I have seen enough of fall and Halloween for awhile!

    XO,
    Jane

  4. I agree completely Susan. I did the same thing and wrote about prayer because that is what I have been doing.

  5. Yes I am thankful for our safety as well. We had the storm come right over us here in southwestern Ontario but it didn't do any damage to us but cities and towns around us got hit pretty hard ! Have a good day !

  6. I totally agree. I did a similar post today. My heart breaks for all the folks who were harm's way and the devastation.
    Be a sweetie,
    Shelia ;)

  7. It is hard to hear about all this devastation for sure. It always makes me feel so helpless.
But being caring human beings and keeping them in our prayers is a unifying thing I feel.

  8. I know exactly how you are feeling. I actually started to download pictures of a party my granddaughters had. I stopped and just sent out this....I'm okay are you okay? Too sad. I know that our little treak or treaters will be out tomorrow and that's okay. They don't need to feel the way that we do. But after this and the last couple of weeks in Colorado that impacted my children....it isn't a time for this. Just need to be thankful.

  9. Oh, but it is the frivolous things in life that make life bearable. Hugs from Colorado.

  10. Susan ~ I couldn't agree with you more. There are power outages here in Ontario, trees down, power lines down, but thank the good Lord no one was hurt or lost their lives. I have been praying for those who were hit hard by this tragedy. There will be another hallowe'en next year, but finding a new home, being homeless right now and losing loved ones is where our thoughts and prayers should be.

  11. What an entry.....hope there is a back door. Here in RI lots of coastal home were lost ( some in the ocean) but no loss of life. One daughter lost power for two days other still without, since they are my girls, the one still without power and an electric stove say " I cannot have a cup of tea" this is the worst. Hope every one is o'kay.

  14. I felt the same way today. I had a post schedules and it did seem frivolous...I think that's the very word I used. I am praying for everyone that is suffering from the storm. Hugs to you, my friend!
